Inler Opts At Udinese Stay Thanks To Last Gasp Meeting
After a meeting yesterday evening with Udinese boss Pasquale Marino, reported Arsenal target Gokhan Inler will be staying at the Stadio Friuli despite recent quotes from his agent suggesting the 25-year-old’s future may lie elsewhere.
Gooner Talk told you several days ago that the Switzerland international was on the verge of a move to north London but according to Swiss sports daily Blick, the hardman midfield star will sign a new contract extension which will keep him at Zebrette until 2013.
“We have decided that Gögi (Inler) remains in Udinese,” says Dino Lamberti, Inler’s agent, after a meeting last night in Barcelona.
“Any player would want to play for Arsenal of course, but for Inler this may be perhaps a little early. Maybe a season too early.”
Inler’s contract will see him earning a rumoured £10million over four years – a fantastic reward for an up and coming Swiss youngster.
What does this mean for Arsenal though? Will Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso be Arsene Wenger’s main target? Or will their be late step-up for Villa midfielder Gareth Barry?
One thing is for sure, despite the quotes hinting at potential moves away as well as the continued paper speculation – Gokhan Inler is staying in Italy, at least for another season.
I'm not that dissapointed to be honest, hopefully this paves the way for Xabi Alonso or Gareth Barry to sign fingers crossed!!

that means wenger will not add some new players to emirates because he wil never pay more then 13 milions.
Liverpool won't settle for less than 13.5m for Alonso as they have sell-on clause with Sociedad and that amount activates the increased percentage.
No way to Gareth Barry! I'd rather have Alonso now! Inler was my first choice, but since he's staying I would love to see Alonso. Yaya Toure is also another I wouldn't mind seeing in an Arsenal shirt. Michael Johnson isn't too bad either. But Gareth Barry? NO THANKS! He wants to go to Liverpool…let him! I'd take Alonso over him anyday!

For God sake, this is hopeless…… we are supposed to be in the top ten clubs in the world. We have players leave and threaten to leave because they want to play for Barca/Inter/AC/Real, but we can't get players to join us because they want to play for Fiorentina/Man City/Blackburn. What a damn joke.
Inler probably watched the match against Fulham and quickly changed his mind about Arsenal. Our midfield used to be the most admired in the EPL, now we are the laughing stock symbolized by our comic man Eboue
Neither Inler, nor Xabi, or Barry. It is true that we have many midfielders, but do we have another creative midfielder who could replace Cesc? Yes, we have Nasri. Could he play in the middle of the midfield line? Yes, he does! Is Wenger going to kick off Eboue from the midfield and put Nasri there? No! Do we have another option on the left wing? Yes, we have Vela. Is Wenger going to change his habbits? No! That's exactly what we are talking about. It's all about persistence. I think that we have many options there. I think we could make it without any new signings. BUT Wenger must kick off the players who screw up every match – Eboue and Gallas.

@ seagy44, you cant blame chris bcos a player changed his mind abt signing! Some of u actually think this is a game of football manger. The guy reviewed the situation and realised if he comes to arsenal, he will be thrown in the deep end and maybe he isnt confident enough to shoulder the responsibilities. And besides we all knw football, this might jst be another scheme by the dubious and selfish species called “agents”! I for one believe alonso is the player coming and its dependent on their champs lge qualification but dnt rule out inler jst by this report.

If Wenger was going to sign Inler – He would of done it long ago. The agent has been pushing this to get a better deal at Udinese. Wenger signed Ramsey as soon as he was available – Inler was always agent talk.
Wenger signs players really quickly when he wants them. Look at the last few deals he has done.

It's not a big problem, the main thing is to BUY at least one player. I will be more than happy if he will be Xabi, he is the best player alongside Cesc. I have read at fansfc.com that Niko Kranjcar could join to Arsenal, but I think the Portmouth won't sell him.
So I am waiting for the one strengthen, but I won't be suprised if I will read an another joinig on 1 September.

Something is beginning to tell me that Wenger will not buy anyone before the close of the transfer window.
After a summer of broken promises it looks like we are going into the new EPL season alot lighter than we even were last year.
It just doesnt make sense, how can you not replace a player like Flamini? He was probably our most consistent player last year and not replacing him will leave a huge void in the team.
But Wenger is Wenger and he's a stubborn old sod at times and instead of admitting that he made a mistake in not making a signing weeks ago, would rather go into the new season with a weaker team just to make a point.
For the first time though, I do think that Wenger has got it wrong with his squad and time will tell. Come the end of the season we will be hearing the same old story….' this is a young team and I am convinced we will achieve blah blah blah'

What I wrote stated that Inler will sign during this week. It took a late meeting to persuade Inler that a move to Arsenal is too EARLY. So parts of my first article were right.

I would like to first say I enjoy your blog and like the sterling work you do to provide us with updates and good articles, keep up the good work.
I do however feel that to seperate yourself from the rest of the Arsenal blogs you have to be reliable. I felt when you said Inler was going to sign this week was poor judgement as there was no concrete info out there to say he was going to sign. It has come out today he is staying in Italy.
You made a similar error of judgement with the Nasri story. Please do not become an unreliable source as it is better to be 5 minutes lte and be right the a day early and be wrong

Can I also add that, Inler would not have passed the chance to sign for Arsenal because it was too early, that just sounds stupid. I beleive that Arsenal did not show enough intent in signing him, Arsene can persuade most players to sign for us. Arsenal were obviously unsure about him, due to probably other targets and therefore Inler probably got fed up waiting for a firm offer and decided to sign a contract extension

Chelsea currenly have Deco, Lampard, Essien, Mikel, Ballack. Ballack is thye one that can be persuaded to leave
I was thinking the other day that while I think we do need a defensive midfielder, I can't help but think another attacking player is also needed on the right. In the first 2 games Walcott has not impressed and maybe a Gervinho or Jonathan De Guzman, who could play anywhere across the midfield and scores a lot of goals for a young midfileder, would be a better option. Denilson, Diaby and Eboue could play defensive midfield and De Guzman and Walcott would occupy the right side. It solves the problem of Eboue as a winger and gives us another quality addition in attack.
Just a thought really.
