Kyiv Boss Scouts Arsenal Ahead Of Wednesday's CL Match
|Dynamo Kyiv boss Yuri Semin already has a fair knowledge of his Champions League opponents, Arsenal, but it has most likely been broadended after the experienced Soviet-born coach travelled 1340 miles to watch Arsene Wenger’s side thrash Blackburn 4-0 on Saturday.
Semin was accompanied by assistant manager Valeri Zuyev while the Gunners triumphed against Paul Ince’s side.
Ukrainian Premier League runners-up of last season Kyiv, were in action last week and showed their true quality by hitting Olkom for five in the Ukrainian Cup – with former Gunner Oleg Luzhny taking charge of the game.
The 40-year-old former Highbury defender earned over 70 caps whilst at the club and will be looking forward to renewing acquaintances with some old pals in Ukraine this Wednesday.
Gooner Talk will bring you all the build-up towards Arsenal’s group stage tie with all the latest news, views and opinions on the game – so stay tuned.

Dynamo Kiev coach Yury Semin has stated that their UEFA Champions League group phase opener at home to Arsenal will be a tough game for his charges.
Speaking from Kiev's Valery Lobanovsky Stadium, where Dynamo will host the Gunners on Wednesday evening, Semin admitted that he envied the riches available to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
“Arsene Wenger's side play an easy natural game, and enjoy their football,” he told Dynamo's official website. “They have many young and talented footballers, all very technically gifted.”
Semin was at Ewood Park to cast his eye over Arsenal's 4-0 away win at Blackburn Rovers this weekend, and was impressed by the performance.
“The game was totally in Arsenal's control,” he said. “Despite the four goals scored they had many other chances.
“Arsenal's victory was absolutely the fair result.”
Adebayor
Semin also cited the key role of Emmanuel Adebayor, who scored a hat-trick against Rovers, though made clear that his side would make no tactical changes to combat the Togolese striker.
“We knew very well prior to this the capabilities of the Arsenal forward,” said Semin. “But we will not be putting a man-marker on him. Adebayor plays all over the pitch, and in every zone there will be one of our players to meet him.”
Like Arsenal, Kiev were also among the goals this weekend. Playing in a domestic cup match away to Second Division Olkom in the city of Melitopol, Kiev ran out 5-0 winners.
And, in another coincidence ahead of the encounter, with Semin away in England at the weekend, former Arsenal favourite Oleg Luzhny took charge of Kiev for the tie.
Chris, i know what u did, it's bad!!!!! haha but u got the info now!
see u mate 😉
LOL Thomas.
Thanks for the support mate. :S 😉
Will Nasri play?
Great work Chris.
I'm personally excited about this one, Eastern European teams are always a very much unknown quantitiy and i expected Kyiv to be no different.
I think they could be a Zenit type team, they have one or two great talents but play together well as a team.
We must respect that they are the top dogs in Ukraine, but you would expect the Gunners would have more than enough to beat them in Kyiv.
The fixture have been perfect really we don't have to go all the way to a cold Ukraine in Winter, so everything is playing into our hands.
Cheers JS.
Should be a good game, I'm looking forward to it.
The last time we went there, with our invincibles, they beat us 2-1. And again in 1998 they beat us 3-1. So we should not be overly optimistic. For me a draw will be good enough.
So long as we avoid defeat, then we can rectify the situation in the last game. However, with our defensive probs. am a bit worried.
I was talking about the Wilshere's info, not this one haha
The wilshere's info is soo great, but's its ilegal the was u got it i think? haha
I don't understand mate.
