Silvestre & Song Handed Gunners Starts
|Arsene Wenger has handed new-boy Mikael Silvestre and defensive midfielder Alex Song starts for this afternoons Premier League tie against Everton.
Summer-signing Silvestre, made his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt just a fortnight ago when the Gunners’ reserves beat Stoke City 3-2. William Gallas’ injury has given the former Man United star a chance to impress in the centre of defence.
As for Song, the Cameroonian youngster was below-par during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland. He’ll also look to put right the drab game of 2 weeks ago with an assure performance in front of the back four this afternoon.
French midfielder Abou Diaby returns to the Arsenal squad – but only on the bench – after recently coming back from a thigh injury. Theo Walcott is dropped to the bench after starring for England twice in midweek while Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs, Carlos Vela and Gavin Hoyte make up an exciting young bench at the Emirates.
Confirmed Starting XI
Almunia
Eboue – Toure – Silvestre – Clichy
Denilson – Fabregas – Song – Nasri
Adebayor – van Persie
Substitutes:
Fabianski (GK), Diaby, Vela, Walcott, Ramsey, Gibbs, Hoyte
LOL at the guy on the left in the picture.
Arsenal!!!!
Always…Always one behind!!!
Fucking hell. We still haven’t learn’t the lesson of the Fulham and Hull games.
theo and diaby on please, this is dire.
this is infuriating the back 4 sucks except for clichy and toure .we need sagna and gallas! and bring in walcott and ramsey!
RVP IS Woe full, hes a good player to have when 2 or 3 up, other wise so wastefull, really not happy with the shift any of them are putting in at the moment, our mid field is 2 small.
song is having a mare,
1-1.. Samir Nasri 😀
any 1 just see that rvp miss? again ggrrrrrr
Yep, I did.
I agree with your earlier comment mate. He’s such a wasteful player.
this ref is DRUNK!!!
YELLOW!!!!!, reckless challenge then hands around the throat, whaat a farce
Terrible refereeing. I hope we manage to win this one.
well he shut me up for now haha 😀
RVP gets his goal. 😉
At last. 😀
yes arsenal won !! finally woo walcott’s goal was nice it went under the keepers legs!
Disgraceful formation. Diaby and Theo should have started instead of Denilson and Toure/Song. Eboue should have played right back and Ade should have been shot in the face. How can anyone be offside so much.
Why does Wenger insist on playing Song in the middle and Denilson on the right. Song is a liability and Denilson aint a wide player! Good to see Diaby back. Walcott is looking to be a very influential player, i take back all my criticism i threw at him in the beginning of the season
Wenger wanted to play 4-4-2 so played Song at RB.

@ Stu,
Wenger didnt want to start an already tired Walcott (international outings). Also, he can’t throw Diaby straight away after a long lay off. Dats why both were sed as subs. And Denilson was a make shift right winger.
