Wenger Bemoans 'Serious' Sagna Injury
|Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed in his post-match press conference that fullback Bacary Sagna will be out for a ‘few weeks’ after sustaining an ankle injury in his sides dismal Premier League loss to Aston Villa earlier this afternoon.
The 25-year-old was injured in the build-up towards Villa’s opener, and despite Arsenal’s protests, the Villains played on and made it 1-0 after Gael Clichy headed into his own net.
Wenger told Arsenal TV Online:
“Yes it is serious. He will be out for a few weeks; he has an injured ankle.”
It is expected that Johan Djourou or Kolo Toure will fill in for the Gunners’ next league clash against moneybags Manchester City in a weeks time.
When looked at, Arsenal’s current injury list doesn’t appear to be as bad as first seemed with only Eduardo (broken leg), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) Emmanuel Eboue (knee) and now Bacary Sagna (ankle) out injured.

pretty sure it was the first goal. kind of crucial. inconsistent from riley considering the stoppage in the first half for a villa player who wasn’t actually injured
Yes it was – thanks. 😉
And it didn’t surprise me that Riley awarded Villa a penalty either.
Yeah…Riley is a prize tw*t and a total Manc! Will never forget how he totally screwed us out of our unbeaten 49 games at Manure!
What do I know sitting in my New York apartment watching the game? Is anyone with me in thinking the Villa fans did a better job today as the 12th man? Throughout the game they gave their all. What’s with all the empty seats with 5 minutes to go? The scum clawed back a sure loss in that time a week or so ago.
Come on Gooners get behind the team, it makes all the difference.
Mr. wenger and arsenal seriously depress me and am sure the rest of the arsenal fans! When is he going to learn??? why doesnt he stop being stubborn???
he clearly didnt replace flamini!!! denilson……yeh rite!!!
a centre half is required…….bendner is dog b*******!!
a dm is required! adebayor should have gone in the summer and we should have got 30mill for him! we have no team leaders what so ever!
i dont know what more to say, i just cant be asked anymore!
cant be asked watching this team no bottle, spine, heart, spirit!! total rubbish, they just waste your weekend and make it hell!!
I would propose to you the answer to Arsenal’s problems but you have to wait till Monday!!! Actually there isn’t much to change and I’m not just talking players.
Maybe we should give more of the young guns a shot at a PL game.
I was at the game today, have to say the arsenal fans did not get behind there team, we were def 2nd best. Also villa played better then we did, arsenal really never got into it, our usual passing game never turned up. I think the one upfront formation did not work at all, we played better as soon as we had a 2nd striker.
Get behind the team my arse! Where is it written that the fans have to tolerate this sham. Arsenal fans pay the highest ticket prices in the league to watch a bunch of prima donnas prance around the field as their egotistical manager refuses to get off his high horse, all the while obsessing over this youth-driven football utopia that he thinks only he can champion. Maybe the fans have seen this script before and are growing weary of it. I say the fans have every right to boo or not if they so please, it’s their hard earned money that’s used to appease punters like Gallas and Adebayor and that mullet-wearing Bendtner. No, the fans don’t expect to win a trophy every year nor to win every game but they do deserve to see players giving 100% and that wasn’t it out there today. The same fans who give 100% in their 9-5 jobs day in and day out to purchase these over priced tickets have every right to expect the same from these players. It’s called honesty, and right now neither Wenger nor his players seem to understand that. So spare us the BS.
At the end of this season, when the post mortem is written on this one, Arsene Wenger will predictably bemoan injuries and bad luck as the reasons for his team’s failures. However, everyone will have known that the season was in fact lost long before it even began. A leopard can’t change its spots, any more than Wenger can change his.
Don’t blame the Referee or the fans. Villa outplayed us today, was the better team and deserved to win.
The blame lies on one person and one person only, and if you don’t know who to blame, then get a life.
Why is it that almost every supporter could see at the beginning of the season that we didnt have a big enough squad to deal with injuries and suspension but Mr Wenger thought we did, it was glaringly obvious! btw Mike Riley is a C***
WHY ARE MAN U AND CHELSEA’S REJECTS OUR BEST CENTER BACKS???
GALLAS AND BENDTNAR ARE USELESS,THE SQUAD IS RUBBISH, FLAMINI HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED,WHERE IS THE MONEY?????????I’D RATHER BE AT HIGHBURY WITH A GREAT SQUAD THAN AT THE EMIRATES- LOOK AT MILLWALL.
I THINK WENGERS HANDS ARE TIED.LET US BE IN DEBT LIKE CHELSEA, AT LEAST WE’D HAVE A FEW LEAGUE TITLES TO GO WITH IT.
PLAY THE KIDS,THEY WANT IT MORE.
