Gallas NOT Included In City Squad & Stripped Of Captaincy

Gooner Talk can exclusively reveal that Arsenal skipper William Gallas did not travel with the rest of the Gunners squad up to their Manchester hotel earlier this afternoon.

The 31-year old centre half risked being stripped of the captaincy after his critical comments on Arsene Wenger’s policies and young side just days ago. But now, Gooner Talk understand that the Frenchman has not travelled with the Arsenal squad up to Manchester, and Manuel Almunia looks the likely candidate to skipper the side out at Manchester City tomorrow.

According to Philippe Auclair, renowned French journalist and good friend of the blog, Gallas underwent a meeting with boss Arsene Wenger yesterday evening – just as we told you last night. Unbelievably, Auclair announced on RMC radio that Gallas would not take part in the City game, and because of his comments, has been stripped of the captaincy until further notice.

Auclair also believes Manuel Almunia, Gael Clichy or Cesc Fabregas are likely contenders to be the next Arsenal captain.

So, who do you think will be the next skipper? Gael Clichy is definitely in the driving seat, but you can guarantee Kolo Toure will be lurking somewhere behind him.
