Committed Kolo is 'happy' despite 'minor incident'

Toure

Arsene Wenger insists Kolo Toure is happy at Arsenal despite the club rejecting a transfer request from the Ivory Coast defender.

Toure, 27, has failed to hold down a first-team place since recovering from malaria but the £10million-rated ace has been told to honour his Gunners contract.

Wenger turned down the surprise request and claims the central defender is now happy to stay at the Emirates Stadium and fight to win back his starting spot.

“The situation is that Kolo is a player who has two-and-a-half-year contract and will remain with us,” said the Frenchman.

“I am happy with players who are committed and Kolo is a big example.

“There was a minor incident that you can multiply by 20. It happens every day in every club which is sorted out. Kolo is happy here.

“We have a very young and compact squad and I don’t expect anybody to leave.”

Toure moved to north London in February 2002 and has gone on to clock up around 300 appearances for Wenger’s side.

Sorry guys, it seems as if someone wants to be me – LOL.

And it’s good that Toure’s staying, I feel he could build a good partnership with Djourou if they’re given a good run of games together.

If we sell gallas then Toure will be the same world class defender we all know he is.

Heres some news Rosina a Gooner? ‘No comment’ Saturday 3 January, 2009 Agent Beppe Bozzo revealed Simone Perrotta’s Lyon interest was all paper talk, but hinted Arsenal are close to Alessandro Rosina. After Christmas there were reports that Roma star Perrotta was targeted by Olympique Lyonnais to join fellow 2006 World Cup winner Fabio Grosso. “I haven’t spoken to anyone,” agent Bozzo told Goal.com. “Perrotta is very happy at Roma and intends to end his career at that club.” However, the representative was less than categorical when asked about reports that Torino are ready to sell Rosina to Arsenal in… Read more »
