Arshavin move could be completed in next ten days
Andrei Arshavin’s proposed move to Arsenal could happen next week after his parent club Zenit St Petersberg admitted that they are in talks with the Gunners.
27-year-old midfielder-come-forward Arshavin has attracted an array of admiring clubs on the strength of two spectacular Euro 2008 performances against Sweden and the Netherlands, and it’s Arsenal who are in the front seat to sign him.
According to the reliable Sky Sports News channel, Arsenal have bid considerably lower than Zenit’s valuation of Arshavin – the Russian’s remain adamant that they can push through a deal with Arsene Wenger’s side this month.
Gooner Talk told you about Arshavin’s agent Dennis Lachter, last week, and how confident he was that Arshavin would be an Arsenal player before the end of January.
We also revealed an Arsene Wenger interview in which the French tactician Wenger refused to say whether or not Arshavin could be an Arsenal player, but replied with a cheeky smile and told the fans to ‘be patient’ – typical of the coy Alsatian.
One thing’s for sure, Andrei Arshavin is looking more and more likely an Arsenal player as the days go on.

only the fee has to be agreed but I think as you wrote above only a matter of days and I am sure new deals for RVP and Theo coming soon too. They have to work on new transfers now it is time for new deals.

Kranjcar isn’t as good as Traore who is on loan from us at the moment, really hjope this Arshavin talk is true – he is a world class player but not only that it will also really piss off the spuds,

I read very much article about Arshavin and Arsenal, so I think he will come. The transfer fee will be the key, because Arsenal don’t want to spend 20 million pound on a player. But the money is very improtant for the Zenit as well, because he won’t get anything in the future. What do you think?

it is just positive thinking but I think we should wait about Bendtner until the end of this season. If he still not scoring enough goals we have Jay Simpson which is a natural born scorer.
And I’m not to sure on Jay Simpson, I mean his goals where not exactly “hard”, Vela laid one on a plate for him and all he had to do was tap it in and the goal before that was all about Wilshere’s lovely through ball.

As far as I know Arshavin would be willing to take a pay cut though I think the terms would be similar to Zenit.
The only stumbling block seems the price which Arsenal and Zenit may not agree on in the end. Hope it goes well but Zenit are not in need of money. Time for Arshavin to throw another one of his strops!
Wenger never signed a DM last summer but think about who we missed out all those years ago; Micheal Carrick. Vieira decided to stay but left a year later.
Toure ain’t bad either, he doesn’t get to many matches to prove he is good. And when he does get matches he probably over works himself just to prove he is fit for the starting 11, therefore making plenty of mistakes because he is over worked. Just my opinion, if anyone disagrees I’m fine with that just don’t argue with me.
The talks were confirmed by Russian Television two days ago. The squabble is over the fee.
And there is no doubt that Arsene wants an English player as well. I have realised and I think he has too, that British players are more reliable and loyal. They can also deal with the hustle and bustle of the EPL, which some of the Arsenal players are struggling with, Denilson being a case in point.

Andrei Arshavin’s agent has rubbished claims that Arsenal are in talks with Zenit St Petersburg over a possible deal. Sky Sports suggested the UEFA Cup holders were ready to sell their prized asset to Arsene Wenger but the player’s agent Dennis Lachter says the reports are nonsense.
Arshavin, centre half and central midfielder still needed. No sales, we need all our plyers, our squad cannot cope with injuries. Centre half, think Upson would be good for us, would like an English plyer in our defense plus he is an ex gunner. As for centr mid, i beleive we may get someone on loan as when Denilson and Ramsey reach their ppotential and with also Song and Bishoff still to show us what they can really do we will have selection problems on the future

Arshavin was outstanding in the league and UEFA cup and he was the main focus of the Russia team along wth Zhirkov that qualified for EURO 2008 instead of us and played very well 3 out of 4 games which he played in the tournament.

who knows what to beleive, Wenger does keep going on about some special talent and to be honest there are not many plyers with that special talent who will be sold by their club for under 20 mil.
