Sky Sports News 'created' Arshavin rumour / Andrei wants Gunners move!

The ever-reliable Sky Sports News were accused of being quite the opposite last night as Andrei Arshavin’s shit-stirring agent rubbished rumours that the Russian is on his way to Arsenal.

According to Dennis Lachter, the man who said his client was closing in on a move to north London, Gunners officials have had no contact with either Zenit St Petersberg or Lachter himself.

This news comes as SSN (Sky Sports News), exclusively revealed that Zenit were in talks with Arsene Wenger’s side and that a transfer was close to be being agreed.

Lachter though, rebuffed the rumours in the Russian press:

“People at Sky Sports had been trying to get an interview with me all day. After I refused they made the story up from their own imagination. I don’t know where they got this from. If there is a bid, then it’s one I don’t know about.”

You can make your own mind up on whether or not Lahcter is lying. It seems strange that Zenit’s managing director, Maxim Mitrofanov is saying one thing while Arshavin’s representive, Lachter is saying the complete opposite.

Whilst curiously trawling through today’s newspapers, one quote became evident from Arshavin. He said that he ‘hoped that the two clubs [Zenit & Arsenal] could come to an agreement’. Not only that, he was also shown around the Gunners Hertfordshire-based London Colney training ground.

We will keep you updated with the latest updates on Arshavin and any other transfer stories that come our way, here at Gooner Talk.

Given past experience it is probably wise not to get too carried away away until there is some firm news. Getting Eboue and Bendtner out would be just as positive as getting Arshavin in.

biscuit – If the end result is the same as Nasri’s transfer, then who gives a fuck.

his agent is becoming more famous than him! He is obviously a top, top class footballer but his attitude and agent make me think that he is nothing but trouble.

We are in no position to weaken our team, Eboue is a good player and Bendter is only 20.

This Arshavin situation need to be sorted and kept right out of the press until it does

It is a longer thing than a soup-opera. And it’s longer and more boring than it was at Nasri. We’ll see. I don’t think that Wenger will pay 20m pound for him, so I am not waiting for him. I hope Arshavin is just one option.

We have more than one target to sign but hopefully we get Arshavin because he is class and will excite fans. His work rate is questionable though. I hope City don’t bid for him which I feel they might do.

This is why wenger didn’t wanted to go public about arshavin negotiations, because there are many rival teams that can pay much more than us for arshavin wenger wants to make a quite deal, which now is all around media and expect rival offers for arshavin and be prepared not to be disappointed if deal collapse.

No negotiations at the moment but will try and conclude them next week with interested parties. Arsenal’s chance may be slipping away if other teams get more interested but the guy’s going to leave and if he says he prefers to come to Arsenal over someone like City then there gonna have to agree a fee.

Gooner Dave, i am sure if Real, Barca, Milan wanted him, they would have enquired, its no secret he wants out of zenit. These are the only 3 clubs that can really hijack the deal and possibly City offering rediculous salary. Zenit wants 20 mil for a player who is not high in everyones wanted list. That is why we have a chance of getting him

His agent came out to say that to keep it quite I think as Wenger likes to keep his targets behind doors.

“Not only that, he was also shown around the Gunners Hertfordshire-based London Colney training ground.”

that hasn’t been confirmed, only a rumour. arshavin told the press that he had been in london to shoot an advert
