Arshavin deal close, Eduardo bags Reserves hat-trick
|Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remains ‘hopeful’ that Andrei Arshavin will be a Gunners player by the end of the current transfer window.
27-year-old versatile forward Arshavin has attracted an array of admiring clubs on the strength of two spectacular Euro 2008 performances against Sweden and the Netherlands, and it’s Arsenal who are in the front seat to sign him.
Wenger himself does not rule out the Zenit St Petersberg star coming to the Emirates, but he also admits that negotiations have stalled.
“[We are] nowhere. That means we are not close to signing anybody,” he said.
“We know what we want to do, but we are not close to signing today because I would tell you. But there is no basic news. There again, we are in negotations yes but we want to respect our principles.
“I am very hopeful [of a deal]. We will know in days because the transfer window closes on February 2 and we have only crossed halfway.
“If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. There again, we want to continue to improve here with the players we have.”
The ever reliable Arsenal Analysis revealed earlier this afternoon that Arshavin will quite literally go on ‘strike’ if his move to Arsenal isn’t accepted.
Gooner Talk will keep you updated with the latest on Andrei Arshavin and any other transfer stories that comes our way.
In other news, Crozillian frontman Eduardo is set to continue his recovery in Arsenal’s reserves next week.
Neil Banfield’s second-string take on newcomers Stoke City next Wednesday, and boss Arsene Wenger says the Croatian international will continue his comeback in that game.
Eduardo, out since last February, played the first half of the reserves’ 2-0 win over Portsmouth on December 16.
“Eduardo has had only 45 minutes in the reserves until now so he needs to play games,” said Wenger.
“He will certainly play in the reserves again next week.”
Arsenal Magazine conducted an exclusive interview with Eduardo in which the 25-year-old spoke about his comeback. Not only that, but an article from the Daily Mail also reveals that Dudu scored a hatrick in a training match against the first team!
Once again, Gooner Talk strive to keep you updated with ALL of the latest injury news and match build-up as the Gunners look to challenge in the league and cup competitions this season.
Can’t wait for Dudu to come back :))
If hes anything like he was before that injury, then all I can say there will surely not be anymore 1-0’s 😀
Eduardo scored a hat-trick against the first team. He was playing for the Reserves.
Sorry is some people didn’t get it, as far as I can see, only one person didn’t actually understand it. 🙂
Cant wait to see Eddie back. I really think his intense rehab will have helped him to improve himself even more.
Everyday I change my mind if the Arshavin deal will happen and the last few days I’ve been fearful it won’t but with Wenger saying it im confident.
He never says who he is after directly. He said he ‘Hoped’ to sign Nasri aswell. So it’s just a matter of days.
Eduardo is back, now we can hope for the tiltles.
i love this things and I’m ready to give an advice to mr.Wenger to by arshavin’
Hi gooner chris good job mate where are those fools who said arshavin was never going to sign for arsenal. The probably gone to another blog or somewhere else. Any keep up the good work. Any news on any other transfers. Veloso or poulsen loan deals?
this Arshavin transfer is really starting to annoy me now its just dragging on for far too long now. Dont get me wrong hes a quality player and i do really want him to join the club but time is of Essence we have already gone half way through January and we have other places to fill in the team like we really need a DM.I would love Wenger to put a sneaky bid in for Wigan’s Wilson Palacios hes a player a rate very highly and i do think he would fit in well in are first team
what a misleading headline. i hope we get arshavin. but more pressing matters are a real ball winner. and theos contract!
Cheap headline to get hits!
Hat-trick against your mates who wrap you in cotton wool means nothing. We all hope for the best against serious opposition.
And Arshavin news – old news!
Absolute crap- all of it.
Please don’t waste our time.
Thx
Chris, why bother posting if your going to basically call the articles rubbish?, and hows he wasting our time?..
I think it’s shocking that a supposedly half-fit, just returned from a broken ankle, and then a hamstring injury, is allowed to put 3 goals past Toure/Djourou/Almunia.
Sure, they may not dare to tackle him or what, but still, 3 goals?
when i told my brother that eduardo had scored a hat-trick he was impressed, when i said it was against the arsenal first team during training he quickly slipped out of being impressed and said “that’s not hard” haha… bleak.
please change the recent squad number.
1. Almunia
2. Clichy
3. Sagna
4. Fabregas
5. Toure
6. NEW CENTRE DEFENDER
7. Rosicky
8. Nasri

10.ARSHAVIN
11. Van persie
12. Vela
13. Diaby
14. Walcott
15. Denilson
16. Ramsey
17. Song
wenger must know that we also what to enjoy football maches like some other fans in the world,if its to buy then do it thankyou.
All we need is to hear the good news about Arshavin’s move to Arsenal not useless talks on players who for the last three seasons failed to make us proud. What is the REAL situation of Arshavin’s move to Arsenal? Impatient and desperate we have become, please WENGER quench our thirst.
I LOVE Arsenal whether they are winning or loosing, eventhough is always good to win. Prof Arsene Wenger should keep doing what he knows best and try and keep the players and not allowing any to go during the transfer window. All matches should be taken seriously, none should be taken for granted.
Arshavin WILL come in January. He wants to come, we want him to come, his club want to sell him now its up to the clubs to thrash out a fee. Usmanov could be a decisive influence.
Our record fee will be exceeded in the Summer for Benzema with the sale of Adabayor to either Milan/Barca softening the blow.
Gallas/Senderos or Traore may be used as bait to secure Benzema.
With regards to defensive mid, the preferred option would be YaYa. But I believe that Wenger wants Song/Denilson to eventually fill that role.
Our Central Defender will be young (early 20’s) but powerful in the air. Our experienced central defenters will be Toure and Silvestre.
In
Arshavin- Jan
Benzema-Summer 2009
YaYa- Summer 2009
Central Defender- Summer 2009
Out
Senderos-Summer 2009
Toure/Gallas-Summer 2009
Adabayor-Summer 2009
did I miss something about Bischoff ?
come on Chris that is a cheap-o headline. Love Dudu get back here already!
Not really mate.
I’ve got an exclusive with Dennis Lachter coming up, he’s answered a couple of questions for the blog.
just to let people know, im not the same chris as the other one slagging this story off…
and the agents really given some answers cause he sounded pretty adamant that there will be no new talk on arshavin until next week?
Good on ya chris 😉
Yep, he gave me the answers that I wanted.
I’ll post the article tomorrow afternoon after the Hull game.
Good good. They better be the ‘good’ answers im hoping for, cause if we lose to hull and then i read some bad answers i will be pissed!
Hi gooner chris any news on any other transfer target. The latest one i heard was some spanish winger called markel suaseta
Haha, hopefully they are good, Chris!
Interesting John, to be honest, I’ve never heard of Suaseta so I couldn’t say.
I’ll look into it though. 😀
Our Bishop, Wenger, said we shuold hold onto our faith. All Arsenal fans should believe the Bishop and he will lead us to the promise land.
Arshavin, hurry up and come.
ur wasting a lot of time.
wenger goes for cheap players with exeptional talent!
