Who do YOU want to see in Arsenal's midfield at Hull?
|With Cesc Fabregas ruled out and Tomas Rosicky a doubt, Arsenal could be extremely short in midfield for Saturday’s vital Premier League match against Hull.
It looked like the Gunners would face a similar situation in defence as well, but Arsene Wenger revealed in his pre-match press conference that Sol Campbell’s groin injury is not as bad as first feared.
“We have a little doubt about Rosicky, but we will check that tomorrow morning,” said Wenger. “Nobody else is back, but we will lose Alex Song, because he is suspended.
“Everyone else has recovered quite well from Tuesday night. Campbell looks better than expected today. Sagna has an ankle problem but we will assess that tomorrow.
“We will see how it develops and who is available, who I can play. We know we have 48 hours to prepare for this game and it is quite needed.
“But [Fabregas’] chances of playing are 0.5 per cent – that means unless a miracle happens, he will not play. At the moment, he is out of Saturday’s game.”
Gooner Talk’s Predicted XI against Hull
Almunia
Eboue – Campbell – Vermaelen – Clichy
Diaby – Denilson – Nasri
Walcott – Bendtner – Arshavin
Tell us what team you would play against Hull in the comments section below!
i would prefer to see eduardo play instead of walcott to be honest. He hasnt started for quite a while since bendtner came back from injury. Plus walcott is unpredictable, u never know wat ur gonna get with him
id start eduardo instead of walcott
Given our squad limitations, I would play the same players, but I would use Sagna as LB, and play Eboue instead of Theo, then maybe introduce him as a substitute.
that’s the only midfield we can field at the moment isn’t it lol?! still should be enough, Nasri has to start centrally again! the guy is a big talent!
I think that would be the most sensible line-up. Anyone know when Gallas will be back? We’ll need him for the City match.
It looks like 2-3 weeks out for Gallas. He’s back to square one with his calf injury so I’d say 3 weeks at the latest.
why would you start eduardo he offers nothing any more unfortunately.id have rosicky diaby nasri, fuck denilson out he’s a clown.
would exactly start like your prediction. I think Denilson has to prove something and will do!!
I will only swap Diaby’s place with Denilson’s.At least we know that even if Denilson does lose the ball, Diaby is there to cover for him. And has anyone noticed Diaby’s ball-winning and tackling skills are improving greatly? What a dynamic force the Cesc-Diaby-Song midfield will be in another two seasons and beyond;S-C-A-R-Y!
It would be very unfair from Wenger to sit Eduardo on the bench once again. I’d prefer a 4-4-2.
Walcott is getting back to his best and has things to prove, he will def get the nod over eduardo as he should. Very short with midfield though, might even get to see a bit of Merida.
I think given Denilson’s failings I would go with a 4-4-2. I think Denilson will start but we need more cover in there.
Shame about Song as the midfield 3 we played against Porto was dynamic and when Nasri has covered in the ‘Cesc’ role he puts in his best performance and we haven’t missed our captain.
There are no gimmes now and I would be happy with 1-0 and 3 points but the best form of defence is attack, give ’em hell Arsene
Well .. our upcoming 4 games 2 home – and 2 away are a huge key in our hope to bring the title back ..
we will start this game Away Against Hull , so all we need on the upcoming 4 games one Word A ” Win ” .. we have to be carefull and we have to be very sharp , if our players shows some personality and character i can see us past Hull & Birm city ..
i Believe on start with the good starting line up is leading you to the win , we have some injuries and it’s come in time thats we did not want to be , but at least it’s not the badest time “till” now , we still have massive games like those 3 ( Sp*rs Away – Wigan Away – Man city Home ) we have to be ready physical side mental side and squad with fresh players ..
Always an Away Game Without Song it will be very hard for us , cuz his job is to breaks any counter attacks against us and retain the ball and keep the pressure on the home side team .. and we surly not forget our captain Cesc who was a real leader in the Stoke city game <--- a team thats smiler similar to hull city style of play .. but what i am looking for is NASRI .. if this Player improve his game at Away matches Just like what he did against Burnley & Porto .. and start to be much more stronger and sharpnes and uses all his ability , passing , assists , past players , shoting , control the middle of the park , he will be a key for us in this game no doubt for that .. Denilson & Diaby .. We needs them to be Worriers a real Worriers in the middle help each others to protect the back 4 and try to not play alot of bad passes , we are really need special performance from both players in the Absents of cesc & Song .. Arshavin .. i can see him playing at the Left wing against hull , for sure offensively he shows a very good signs last 2 games sience he back from injury , " but Both games was @ home " so we needs his form to be Away at tuff stadium a team needs to skip from the relegating story ..! Sagna could not play for Injury reason , so we could see eboue to the Right back & Walcott to the Right Wing .. Bendtner will be our Dish There up front and i would like from him to challenging for every ball uses his hights .. and help the team to makes plays up front .. as i said .. the upcoming 4 games are the KEY !! Hull City Away - Westham Home - Birm City Away - Wolves Home .. IF we takes THE WIN !! We will be The real and the real Contender

eboue – Campbell – Vermaelen – Clichy
– Denilson –
– Diaby- -Nasri-
– Rosicky –
Bendtner – Arshavin
I honestly do think that this formation may be the way forward for arsenal football club. Obviously, when players return from injury and suspensions, players like rosicky, bendtner and denilson may lose there place to fabregas, v.persie and song. But I think this formation may add more stability to this maturing arsenal side.
Nasri and Diaby both provide the attacking potential to harm any defence while offering defence cover as both are more than capable of playing the holding role.
Another benefit would be the fact that cesc would still be given the free role and with arshavin playing in his natural role, this won’t be a side lacking creativity with v.persie leading the line to capitalise.
Obviously some may question the defence and I would tend to agree but for a typical match against a team like Hull city, no disrespect even though I would like to, this defence should handle anything thrown its way with two of the most solid CB’s in the premier league at the minute holding the line.
So does anyone else have any thoughts on whether this formation may be an improvement??!!
ALWAYS OUTNUMBERED, NEVER OUTGUNNED
Absolutely no way eduardo should start. Doesn’t fit in a 4-3-3 at all. too slow and completely lacks the sharpness for goals now. Lost count how many 1-on-1s he’s missed this season. I’d even advocate selling him in the summer since Chamakh is on his way.
Denilson is our weakest player but will definitely start.
Rosicky or Walcott will alternate as sub/starter. Eboue will come in for Sagna.
Wel above formation wil most likely be what the prof starts with, althought i agree with mosta of u above wallcot shouldnt start as hes wel better being a sub that comes late on,il suprise you a bit then il go for traore on the diamond up front, why???coz he will help defending with clichy aswell as wipn them crosses for bendy, for me hes the best on doing that in our team no doubt.
keeper(?!)
eboue verma campb clinchy
deno
nasri abu
arsha traore
bendy
1-3 to the gunnerz remember!!
Thoughts on giving Sagna a go in central defense, partnering Vermaelen? He is a great defender and although not tall, is very strong in the air and of course has good pace. Don’t know if he ever played there at Auxerre, but surely he couldn’t be much worse than Silvestre. Although asking him to give it a go in an important league match with a bad ankle might be to big an ask. Wouldn’t risk Sol, if he picked an injury we’d be left with Silvestre starting every match! 🙁
4-3-3
bendtner
arshavin walcott
nasri
denilson diaby
clichy vermaelen sagna eboue
eduardo should leave this summer, no doubt abut that
Spot on with the formation. I think the key battles will be in the mid field and how we respond in attack. We need to improve our workrate in midfield. Diaby and denilson need to be at their best. They need to go for every tackle and defend properly cause we cannot compete physically with those tugs so our tactical and technical abilities should be intensly utilised. Keeping the ball as much as possible and looking to contribute to attack too will be an advantage.
Nasir on the other hand will have to be ontop of his game. He has the ability to influence a game with his movement, crisp dribble, pass and eye for goal. While in attack ashavin,benthner,rosicky/wallcot should be a handfull for their defence but not withstanding a brutal cutting edge is required from our forwards. Their movement and accuracy on goal will be very vital. Every opportunity should be treated like the last.
I have a feeling at the end of the season the goal difference might just prove the difference, cause the teams are so close and you wonder with just 9 games to go you never know can you?
Last but not the least is the defence. I know we always concede in almost every match but i believe hull lack the quality in attack to cause us real problems. But every thing depends on our hunger, workrate and how we defend as a team.
Overall i think we have enough quality to put hull to shame. We just need to stick to plan and be principled. Its never easy away at hull epecially with your best players out but it should’nt be an escuse either. This type of games are the ones we need to win in other to increase our mental strenght, focus and become champions. Fingerscrossed, we shall pass the test.
9 games to go, let cheer our beloved arsenal to greatness.
Almunia
Eboue – Campbell – Vermaelen – Clichy
Diaby – Song – Nasri
Walcott – Bendtner – Arshavin
I would rather se Eboue than Theo because we do not have Song this weekend, he is another player that can win the ball…
DON’T start EDUARDO
even my nan can run faster than him lol he’s so so slow and far from the quick clinical striker we used to know
We are currently seeing a number of our players coming into form at the same time at this crunch part of the season. What we need to do is to start those players who are playing well at the moment and try to get a balance with the starting 11 and impact from our substitutes.
As much as I would like Walcott to start, I think it is wise for Walcott to come in as a sub. His pace will destroy Hull in the 2nd half. I would advocate starting both Sagna and Eboue. I’d line up like this:
———–Almunia
Sagna -Campbell -Vermy -Clichy
—-Nasri -Denilson -Diaby
—-Eboue -Bendtner -Arshavin
2nd half, Eboue to go play RB whilst Sagna is subbed to accommodate Walcott on the right. If we are dominating by 3-0 or so, Denilson can come off, whilst Diaby tucks in into the DM role and Rosicky to play on the left behind Arshavin.
The way Arsenal is playing at the moment, if we stay disciplined, we will beat Hull very easily.
Almunia
Sagna (if fit) Campbell Verminator Clichy
Denilson Eastmond Diaby
Walcott Bendtner Arshavin (subs: Eboue, Nasri and Eduardo)
Eastmond because Denilson cannot be relied on to hold a defensive midfield position, and will be less of a liability with someone more prone to sitting in front of the back 4.
id start like this
ALUMINA
SAGNA CAMPBELL VERMAELEN CLICHY
DENILSON DIABY
NASRI
EBOUE ARSHAVIN
BENDTNER
HOPE SAGNA & CAMPBELL ARE FIT.I REALLY WANNA PUT ROSICKY ON BUT THERES JUST NOWRE FOR HIM.
I PUT EBOUE RIGHT WING COS WE ARE MISSING SONG.
I THINK THE RESULT DEPENDS ON HOW THE FIRST 30MINS GO.IF WE GET OUT MUSCLED & FORT WE MAY STRUGGLE(DENILSON),BUT I HOPE NOT=)
THE RESULT ALSO DEPENDS ON HOW DIABY GETS BACK TO SUPPORT THE BACK4
ARSENAL3 HULL0
Why do people think Eduardo is better than Walcott.
Ok either has not been on form since suffering major injuries, but Walcott offeres much much more than Eduardo.
Unfortunatly that twat at Birmingham has put a hold to the promising player that we signed. He is a shadow of the guy we had before that. He has lost all his pace (which is not surprising) Seems to have lost all confidence especially going in for tackles or a one on one with the keeper.
His biggest strenght was his calm finishing, now if he is being closed down he sometimes panics.
Walcott offers something that no other Arsenal player has, OK he needs to work on his final ball and decision making, but I would always pick him on the wing than Eduardo.
won’t be 4-3-3 but 4-1-4-1
—————— Almunia
Eboue — Vermaelen — Silvestre — Clichy
—————- Denilson
Walcott —- Nasri —- Diaby —– Arshavin
—————- Bendtner
I am sure this will be the lineup but this means that Eduardo wont feature again in the starting lineup I think Wenger has made Eduardo as a Super Sub and only if we have too many injures only then he will get a look in
Almunia
clichy verma camp sagna
diaby eboue nasri

Puttin g any1 at de center instead of the ineffective denilson will be common sense. He has not improve accordingly even after he nails down a regular spot last season.. What a shame.. Out Denilson! Even Walcott has amoment of brilliance..
eboue would provide surprise n fear into Hull.. He can defends betta, more pace than denilson..
Almunia
Sagna-Campbell-Vermaelen-Clichy
Diaby-Denilson-Nasri
Eboue-Bendtner-Arshavin
I’m depressed Ramsey is crippled and Song has a ban. Fucking gay! Denilson doesn’t fill me with confidence. Hope Denilscum proves me wrong and becomes DenILLson!
Almunia eboue vamalean campbel clichy, diaby denilson arshavin nasri rosicky, bendtney
This game. I feel, will produce yet another last-chance foe Denilson to show his worth. If he keeps rubbishing & jogging in the middle of the park instead of burning the pitch & eating the grass, he will be dropped soon as Eastmond is developing so Quickley & remarkably. So apart from him replacing the suspended Song & Walcott in for Rosicky & Eboue for Injured-bit Sagna, I would go with the same line-up & formation as it was against Porto.
Almunia
Eboue-Campbell-Vermaelen-Clichy
Nasri-Denilson-Diaby
Walcott-Bendtner-Arshavin
subs: Fabianski, Silvestre, Traore, Sagna, Rosicky, Eduardo, Vela
I feel another 3-1 score will us just good enough. Time to pay off for Arshavin excellent last forms with a double & another one for Eduardo as a sub.
It defi wont be campball since he playd against porto. im guessing it would b silvestre..
Almunia
eboue.. Silvestre..verma..clichy

Walcott…B52…Arshavin
Yeah id say i would definiately go for the team you have stated…Unfortunately we have no choice but to play Denilson…I think the definately ahead of eduardo as he gives us an extra threat in behind…
As much as i love Eduardo he needs a run of games to get back into form and fitness and we just cant afford to give him that run at the moment…
Expect usto march on but it will definitely be a tough game…if we earn our right to play in the first 20 we should take over and come through with the win…
COME ON YOU GOONERS!!!
eduardo can do a job at the emirates but away from home in deccessive game like this no let him play games at home get fitness back so on we see from there most of our lads ont do a heck of a job away fom home,so i would go for strong side and put the artists of rosicky and co on later
:

you will see bendtner will have a nother horror performance and may cost us the game just because he had a wonderful performance and scored a hat-rick does not mean he’ll do it again. just watch
Shut up simon what negative pathetic comment which helps no one apart from your wn ego you defeatist
Bendtner isnt just goals. But idiots like simon will never realize it!!!!
Stop slating off Eduardo. There’s no doubt that he has been poor but let me break your leg and see how well you do. I hope he finds his form by the start of next season and proves you all wrong. “Supporters”…..debatable.
if cesc iz fit put him on da bench 4 emergencies only lol. nasri has 2 ply wiv diaby n den/eastmond
I think your starting XI is fine. Nasri would be better in central midfield.
Denilson? I don´t like to see him in our squad, but he didn´t play few matches and maybe would be ok.
Let´s see.
Denilson is fine, leave him alone. why do we always have to find someone to pick on?? We have a strong enough squad to face hull and should win easily. Last year ppl were saying what is Song doing in this team, now it’s what can we do without him. Crazy. Same goes for ade, eboue, sagna, we jump on the back of our own players and thats just disgusting. I was at the match last year when some ‘fans’ booed eboue off the pitch, that was a very sad day for our team, i lost a whole lot of respect for much of the ‘fans’.
That match on tuesday was the best live game ive seen at the grove, i feel we have great belief in the squad, which was lacking in the previous years. I think campbell has helped a lot, he is still a fantastic player, another strong performance for us against Porto. He is slower, but is still strong. And the fans were great!! Love the arsenal.
Come on you gooners!
Midfield with Rosicky, Diaby & Nasri, same defence & forward.
We will win 2-0 (Bendtner & Arshavin)
spot on garry!!
mid-field today inevitably would be diaby , den n nasri
btw i’d love to see the statistics regarding how many times we win when bendtner plays..i think we mostly do !!
——————ALMUNIA—————-
–EBOUE—SOL PATROL–VERMINATOR–CLICHY-
——NASRI——-DENILSON—-DIABY—–

i think rosicky should come on at 60th minute 4 diaby, and push arshavin back
come on the arsenal, lets keep ourselves in the race and help to send tango man back where he belongs in the lower leagues!..would have thought it will be the same team as the porto game but with eboue replacing sagna and walcott coming in for rosicky
must win game, then again every game is a must win game now lol. COME ON ARSENAL !! hope Nasri shuts that orange tango prick phil brown up !!

Theo misses out again and rosicky doesnt make the squad…must have been a bigger knock than we thought…
Dissapointed to see theo miss out again I think him and eboue down the right work really well together…Sagna doesnt offer the same going forward but i guess leboss has gone for his extra defensive qualities first…
hmm bit of a miss match team today, no keen at all on denilson and eboue is hot and cold normally.. how tired is campbell going to be?.. hmm these are all problems, i dont think this will be a straight forward game today
wen is Diaby gona DO SOMETHING???
two bad decisions by the ref and linesman for the hull goal. clearly offside and not a pen. And why did bendtner get booked for being poked in the eye? thats a weird one. Boatang off for a stupid tackle so they will now park a bus in front of goal.
this ref is shit. when is he going to take control of the game? Boateng should have been sent off when he got into it with Bentner and Bentner should not have seen yellow. Pen was offsides and Bentner should have had a pen for the mauling he got in the box. overall shit game by the ref. lets see what he does in the second half.
awful clueless ref.. and the linesman isnt any better, clearly offside before the penalty but at least he’s sent off that idiot boateng.. come on surely we can now go on to beat a hull team that has 10 men..surely.. otherwise we wont deserve to be champions
Goal!
few that was nearly the end of our title chance…. great win poor performance, denilson did one good thing the whole match the shot. thank god song back and please we need fabregas. well done bendy for scoring
pulled it out in the end. not our best match, but we got 3 points. staying in the race. lest see if fulham can take some points of man u for us tomorrow.
