Arsène Wenger will certainly be in positive spirits ahead of Wednesday’s trip to White Hart Lane, after watching Spurs play 120 minutes against Portsmouth — and losing in the process.
The Arsenal boss would have been pleased to see his bitter north London rivals pick up injuries, with Harry Redknapp’s men also likely to be fatigued for the midweek game.
Spurs will be without the suspended Wilson Palacios for Wednesday’s vital clash, while Croatian stars Niko Kranjcar and Vedram Corluka are deemed as doubts by Redknapp.
“Niko Kranjcar has picked up a very bad injury. Corluka had to be injected at the start of extra time, to keep him going! We’re going to have to pick ourselves up for Wednesday.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United dropped points against Blackburn today. The current Premier League champions couldn’t score past an astute Rovers defence without their talismanic frontman Wayne Rooney.
