Arshavin's friend: "Time will tell" on Barcelona move

Andrey Arshavin’s former agent has once again stirred up speculation that the 28-year-old will be leaving Arsenal in the coming months, by refusing to rule out a summer move to Barcelona.

Earlier last week the Russia international heaped praise on Barcelona and said playing for the Spanish champions at some stage “would be the peak of my career”.

The Russian midfielder’s ex-representitive whose still a close friend of the maestro [pictured right], rebuffed those claims several weeks ago, told Gooner Talk that “time will tell” on whether yesterday’s article in The People article was true or not.

Arshavin, who turns 29 next month, could have easily ended up in the Catalan capital instead of London following his impressive performances at Euro 2008, where he helped Russia to the semi-finals.

Barcelona’s bid for the gifted playmaker was rejected by Zenit St Petersburg in July, 2008, before he joined Arsenal in January last year.

It’s really all a bit of a hash, isn’t it? Didn’t Shava fire Lachter last year? “The People” isn’t the most reputable of sources, so I am wondering if this is just Lachter putting his nose in.

Oh, and I still say Lachter is a dead ringer for the actor Robert Carlyle. Like they’re evil twins or something. 😉

he wants clearly him out of Arsenal to make more money!!! Just paper talk like always. I am sure he is happy at emirates but if not he can go. Get Di Maria for him!!!

If he is set to go, its about time we start playing hard ball with regards to fees for our players. When we’re selling we always seem to let everyone go on the cheap. Don’t let him go for less the £23 million!

if arshavins going to do a barn door then we should just let him.. no need for a lazy half as*ed player in the team.. just bring in someone else and get a decent GK and CB in, joe hart and gary cahill perhaps

Let him move. He will find out he will be a squad player. Arsene can use the money to buy someone who is less injured.

would prefer a proven keeper to Joe Hart, yea he’s had a great season but who knows if he can do it again nxt yr, he’s still an unproven talent if we’re honest.

Arshavin needs to be shown the door, nobody wants players who dont wanna be here and is always whinging!

Sell him!!!!! Get Hleb back for free! Must say I hate these spanish teams more each day, but UEFA would never touche them since they are scrathsing their back. Football is so poluted with cheating it could ruin the game. There is no pride left. I love football and AFC but my love for football is decreasing a little each season. Fair play is a joke!! And Arsenal is probably no better than anyone else I`m afraid.

i would like to se him leave. i have never been happy with his attitude and don’t think he’s scored enough goals. to be honest i’m confused with wat position he calls his own. he has outright said he aint a striker. he can’t play left midfeild i use the liverpool game as an example, granted he scored 4 but he was ment to be playing left mid in which case he had defensive responsibilities we conceded 3 goals from that side were he really needed to be back covering. and attacking mid he isn’t as good as the players… Read more »

NOT SCORED ENOUGH? Its the likes of Nasri and Theo who have not scored enough. AA23s record at The Arsenal is something like 1 in 4, better even. Thats a goos return

Who wants to stay with a loser club for the last 5 years we have heard so many things from Wenger I have a lot of respect for him but his philosophy cannot give us a trophy for 5 years. Moreover with philosophy you cannot win a trophy. Why blame Arshavin? I dont know its true or not if he leaves Arsenal that will be a big blow, Dont you remember Henry also left for Barcelona because he thought this Arsenal squad cant win Champions league. Before every big Wenger used to tell our mental strength maturity and after every… Read more »

Story doesn’t seem credible at all. I don’t think anyone doubts that he would like to head to Barcelona if he had the chance – but these quotes are from a particularly unreliable tabloid. Anyway, it’s hard to fathom that they would be interested in another erratic player after the failure of the Ibra – Eto’o swap and the disappointing returns from Henry.

Barca will be trying to bring in a left sided player along the lines of David Silva, Ribery, Mesut Ozil or perhaps Eden Hazard.

Arshavin is our 2nd best scorer on the season and sum of you retards want him to leave because of what?! Some BS tabloid story that’s been rehashed over and over? I can’t believe how ignorant some of you people are. And the ones with comments like, “I don’t like his attitude so he should go”, have most likely never met the guy, and don’t speak Russian. So WTF do they know?! Not a Damn thing.

he hasnt been as electric as he used to be. I still think he could do good but if we dont win out for another season…he’ll leave I think.

bit of a dissapointment tbh. He has mixed views though, he criticises his team mates, the club and then says he would love to go to barcelona. I dont get him. a good player but I’m a bit scared that he has a bit of an attitude and I hope that doesnt ruin us next season as we can only do better.

Well according to the Evening Standard ES magazine last Thursday, he and is wife are looking for a house in London, between £3-5Million. So unless that report is false then why would he look to move to Barca if buying a house?

he’s not going anywhere, arsenal is his club. he’ll do one or two more years here and then go to a retirement league ilke serie A.

barca wouldn’t take him because he’s a bit too lazy for them. he didn’t really get injured in the first leg, he just looked around and saw all that running and thought ‘f*ck this’

i have nothing against the lad f**k it who am i kiddin if he wants to go to barca let him go seriously if The great Henry is tuggin out the bench coz of Bojan and Pedro who have better work rate and energy than him what gives him the impression he is going to even make the bench. This season he has failed to deliver and the remarks he makes to the press are somewhat infuriating, besides wilshire looks like he is coming good so f**k him go kiss Guardiola’s ass and give hugs to cheating Busquets trust me… Read more »

KC, thank you for the voice of reason, I’m ashamed to be affiliated with these whiny-ass, fake-ass, wanna be football fans calling themselves Arsenal supporters. If you guys believe everything that you read then you’re probably either under 13 years old are an ignoramus. I really hope other teams fanbs aren’t reading these blogger’s posts since they would think that our fans are all retarded bitches. He scores goals, has talent and experience, and is an intelligent player that we really need in the squad, you can’t stop him when he’s 100% and you people are just talking out of… Read more »
