Vela & Traore start against Blackburn
Carlos Vela has been handed a start ahead of Eduardo at Ewood Park today.
The Mexican striker, who has seen limited game time this season, plays upfront with Theo Walcott and the returning Robin van Persie.
French fullback Armand Traore also plays while Alex Song, Gael Clichy and Nicklas Bendtner are being rested.

Vela wont play down the middle, he’ll play on the left. I wonder who will anchor the midfield though? Eboue, Diaby and Nasri have all tried it before so that’ll be interesting to see.

if that indeed is the 11 players then that is definitely not the formation. a 4-4-2 with eboue and vela on the flanks, rvp and walcott up top. or if eboue plays on the left then walcott may be playing wide right.

Another complete rubbish game and what worries me is the way our attackers were completely bereft off any ideas in front off the Blackburn defense.
Didnt take long for the moners to come out then. I think its worth noting we have little to play for and a catalogue of injuries, just cant wait for next season.

Andrew, you cannot keep blaming our finishes on injuries. We choose who to buy, who to keep, etc. It is our own fault we pick brittle, small players. This match should highlight our true weaknesses – #1 by 100000000000000% is a top-class keeper. If Arsene thinks Fab or Almunia is one, he has completely lost it. Without a top keeper, we will not challenge – as simple as that. #2 is a top class CB. We cannot rely on the same two to play the entire year. Injuries happen, and Djourou cannot be counted on to be fit. #3 another attacking player, whether Chamakh or a dynamic midfielder. #4 another Alex Song-type player for cover. Song is top class but gets card suspensions, some nicks here and there, and of course is tired. Denilson cannot play this role.
I think only 1-2 of these wishes will happen – not sure why, this match was the perfect illustration of the needs.

No need to have a go at me personally. I actually agree with some of your points, our squad isnt good enough to win the league or challenge convincingly for anything. However, our injury situation is horrendous and there is a difference between being able to compensate for losing a few key players and losing literally everyone, which is what we have sort of done, and for long periods as well.
