Exclusive: Arshavin set to sign new contract
|Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin is close to sealing a new contract extension with the Gunners, Gooner Talk understands.
The 29-year-old, who was linked with Barcelona in January, is expected to pen a 1-year extension which will see him stay at the club until 2013.
Despite fuelling speculation over his continuing links to Spain, the outspoken Russian, who joined Arsenal from Zenit St Petersburg in January 2009, has finally decided to show his commitment to the cause.
Last season, Arshavin scored 14 goals and made 9 assists.

Are there any news on GKs? That’s the most important thing this season…
i really think he’ll do the business this year!
@Snir Geuli, exactly.
Great news!
YAY, any news on possible transfers? or has “caughtoffside” exhausted every possible option….
hi , any news on the goalkeepers?
almunia leaving-?
eduardo more news?
RE Goalkeeping situation: I think Wenger will wait until pre-season is over before making a final decision on the no.1 jersey. Almunia leaving is a strong possibility.
RE Eduardo: Arsenal want more than the £6million being offered. Talks are expected to continue until they can reach an agreement.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/szczesny-i-don-t-want-to-go-on-loan-again
Front page on Arsenal.com “Szczesny – I don’t want to go on loan again” @goonerchris Do you think he’ll be made no 1? He’s better than Almunia, Fabianski and Mannone. But I don’t know if he’s capable of bearing the weight of our club on his shoulders.
Szczesny is good enough, has the right attitude, and has Wenger’s backing. If ever Wenger should trust youth, it is in the case of him. I’m all for a new GK, but between Mannone, Fabianski, or Szczesny, it’s the younger Pole all day long. Give him a chance Arsene if you don’t sign anyone.
Jamie from Young Guns rates Szczesny as one of the best under-21 goalkeepers in the world. I went to quite a few Brentford games last season so I can understand why he thinks that.
He’s a confident character, similar to Bendtner, who has a lot of belief in his own ability. I’m not sure if Wenger would want to push him straight in the deep end against the likes of Liverpool though.
I sure as hell wouldn’t want to push Almunia, Fabianski, or Mannone in the deep end against Liverpool either. I think it really should be a new keeper or Szczesny. Almunia was guilty of so many errors, Fabianki’s overall goalkeeping mechanics are so bad, and that fact that Mannone is the lesser of the two prodigies means that Szczesny should be given the jersey between the current 4, I mean if Wenger really rates him.
It’s time us Arsenal fans were not so docile. Once a week we should each bombard UEFA & FIFA with a letter of complaint regarding Barca’s conduct which could cause the 2 bodies an Admin nightmare. Also en masse Arsenal fans should send vitriolic emails to mouthy Barca players such as Puyol & also to the stirrer in chief Balague who takes the money from Sky in this country & then attempts to unsettle the best players in the Premier League to move to Spain. Also we should deluge Arsenal with letters of complaint that the club has failed again to care for their supporter’s interests by not formally reporting a club that has persistently tapped up many of our players.

Chris, do you think that the fact that AW didn’t sign a keeper yet and the club is in training camp means anything ? If I was AW I would have signed a keeper before the training camp so he could develop an understanding with his new defense…
So does that mean he’ll be choosing from Szczesny, Mannone and Fabianski or will he bring someone eventually?
Do you personally have some info?
Just wondering if you might share your source for this?
I have very little info on what goalkeepers Wenger might be scouting/interested in. I know that the Schwarzer deal is in Arsenal’s hands. If we pay an extra £1m then he’s our player, but I can’t see that happening (we all know how stubborn Wenger is like that).
I’ll update you if I get anything on the goalkeeping situation, so stay tuned.
@dom: Dom, email me at goonerchris@goonertalk.com
J. Cole to liverpool is done! He will wear #7 shirt.
@REDgoon:
Good comments RedGoon, but having Almunia, Fabianski and Manonne previously, I think there is less pressure on Chesney then say if he was following on from Seaman or Lehmann..typing this made me realise we need a keeper with a man in the surname!
@Naz:
There is MANnone..
Naz, ur a retard… Bob Wilson doesn’t have ‘man’ in his name and he was prob our best goalie ever coz he wasn’t mad or lob prone
To be honest , if we could get back what we paid for the lazy little fuck, I’d sell him. He’s the laziest player I’ve ever seen in the red& White to be frank!
Gooner Chris.Any news on Dudu? Do you know what other positions Wenger is looking to improve? Thanks
Also arshavin needs to stop running his mouth off , if it’s that easy to get misquoted don’t keep chatting to russki newspapers about how bad life in London is! Put up or shut up
To be fair arshavin hasn’t said anything bad in ages and is a quality player. It has to be chezzers or a new gk… not clowns 1 and 2 plus mannone…
Good news! Lets hope he has a better season this time around.
On the GK situation, Give Szczesny the chance to play & bring in the best CB & DM we can afford.. With a solid foundation Szczesny would have all the confidence in the world!
great staff, i jst thnk it’ll be fair 2 gve szczesny a chance.
I cant believe some people are clamoring for Wenger to allow szczesny to man the goal for us this season. At best, he should be playing in the fa/carling cup to gain more experience. ( maybe some pl games)
The same people asking Wenger to [play him would be the same people to call for his head when he makes costly errors.
Arshavin wants to stay because Baca don’t want him. I wonder if this will make him shut up and get on with his job.
Eduardo is flying to Donetsk from Heathrow on a early morning flight, he will sign 4 year contract with them later on today..
Dudu thank you and you will be missed, as an arsenal player and more so as a true friend..
Sretno dragi i vidimo se uskoro
hey chris, u said something abt relocating the website to a new 1? is it done yet?
the season’s starting soon.
Good news, but where is our NEW GK?
when he was interested in playing for arsenal he was my favourate player…. When he became ‘ sulky chops’ and kept going on about how shit london is but how great cuntalona is i started to go off him… When i saw him feign injury against barca, limping on the pitch till he got substituted the he ran down the tunnel… This can only be forgiven by him giving us a 20 goal season AND a bit of effort
it is said replacement for dudu will be Suarez!!! Yes!! A deadly goal scorer!!!

As expected, after the World Cup game is hunting for talents who have been more on display in South Africa.
Among these, three play nell’Ajax and Arsenal could end block: This is Maarten Stekelenburg, Gregory van der Wiel and Luis Suarez, for which the Gunners have made an overall assessment of approximately 42 million pounds.
The offensive of the three English clubs lancers will not wait even to anticipate the time the other competitors to three players.

No Eduardo
Eduardo is off 99%…Even Croatian manager Bilic has confirmed these reports and some of his national team mates.Goodluck Dudu hope you`ll find your best form again…Almunia is on that trip to Austria DAMM!!!……….Hope we sign a GK but i`m nervous very nervous about this…
Van Persie is officially RVP10, Vela is CV11…lets hope robin can live up to the expectations of the no.10 worn by DB10
rvp number 10… that smiling twit vela is number 11
Loic Remy is gonna be Eduardo’s replacement, the major club in for him is us.
I guess Vela will stay then and have a bigger role to play since Dudu is off.Forget Hazard`s and Ozil`s
“Skysports.com understands one of the Premier League’s major clubs has joined the chase for Nice ace Loic Remy” – what major Premier League club is close to selling a striker that will need replacing??
@@KrustytheKlown: Not us mate, everythinks Wenger will buy a replacement! We have him already in Chamakh so I would forget any striker coming into to replace eduardo!
yes remy!!! get him!! new henry and hopefully a true gunner and gooner!!!
Is it just me or does arshavin look fitter than he ever has been while he’s been with us? I wonder now that Eduardo is leaving and wish him well at Shakhtar, if we are going to get a replacement for him.
Lol.
http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/835578-stekelenburg-van-der-wiel-and-suarez-set-for-triple-arsenal-transfer?
Somehow I doubt it!
arsenal4ever get a grip. love your enthusiasm but if you think we are in for the likes of remy, suarez, etc. you are off your rocker.
If I was a player I’d have arsenal4ever as my agent coz he doesn’t stop chatting shit and has had us signing more players over the last year than the dressing room can hold! He’d believe it if we were linked with Lindsay Lohan. Gullible or what!
hes prob playing football manager too much and gets his fantasy game mixed up with real life
if we sell cesc i see madrid are looking to sell van der vart for 12mil, and kaka for 20… Perfect immediate replacements
If I was to compare him with something else that’s as annoying it would be a vuvuzela!
Loic Remy is going to Liverpool. He’ll cost them around 12mil. I know all of this while, Liverpool struggled to give the fund to Benitez but it seems like Rafa was been given a double-standard by the owners. I would doubt Joe Cole to join Liverpool if it was Rafa the person in charge. Yes he’s free but still, his wages cost a lot isn’t it?
