Bendtner reiterates desire to get more playing time

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has admitted that he is “happy to be an Arsenal player” but reiterated his desire to get more playing time in the Gunners’ starting eleven.

The 23-year-old’s position at the club has looked increasingly uncertain due to Robin van Persie’s recent return to fitness and the arrival of Moroccan frontman Marouane Chamakh over the summer.

Bendtner told Danish daily Sporten.dk that he is currently happy, but will see what happens with his future in the summer.

“I am happy to be an Arsenal player, but of course I must play more. I think I’m good enough to be in the starting line-up,” Bendtner told Sporten.dk

“I play the rest of the season as an Arsenal player and think about it [his future] this summer. If I’m still happy in the summer, and I am at the moment, we will see what is to happen.”

The news comes just days after Arsenal’s sports psychologist Jacques Crevoisier revealed that Bendtner led the club’s ‘self perceived competence’ tests, which are made-up of 117 questions designed to test players’ self-belief, concentration levels and determination.

Bendtner is expected to start for Denmark against England in Copenhagen on Wednesday.
