Wenger: "Nasri has a chance to face Barcelona"
|Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that midfielder Samir Nasri does have a “chance” of playing against Barcelona in the Champions League next Wednesday.
The 23-year-old sustained a hamstring injury during the FA Cup win over Huddersfield last month, with Wenger suggesting that Nasri wouldn’t be fit for Wednesday’s clash. However, the former Marseille man said on Twitter that he’s now begun training again and could be back sooner rather than later.
“I wouldn’t say ‘no chance’. There is a chance,” Wenger told reporters at his post-match press conference after the win against Wolves.
Nasri, of course, has been at the center of much of Arsenal’s success this year, scoring fabulous goals against Fulham and Manchester City. He’s been scoring goals at a tremendous rate and providing smooth passing interchanges with Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, and Theo Walcott in the Gunners’ best attacking four.
Gooners will be hopeful that Nasri can make the substitutes bench against Barcelona, bolstering Arsene Wenger’s attacking options in the squad.
fully expect to see him on the bench. Be surprised to see him start
Huge boost – Nasri, Song and DJ fully fit plus a fully fit Cesc and RVP. The add an inform Arshavin and Walcott – a different game and prospect compared to lastr time we played. I believe we can win!! Roll on Wednesday.
Agree with Owen, the bench is the best thing for him, there’s no need to risk him but if he’s really fully fit then why not although it might not be too fair with Arshavin and in cup ties like these we need players who have been in a good run shortly prior to the cup tie and Arsha have been there but wouldn’t mind the Prince back lol Good luck to Arsenal, come on gunz blazing!
thank GOD for helping him back coz we realli need him and by GOD grace we will surely win barcelona…
Arshavin showed some good effort today and got into the kind of positions that could cause Barca problems. Nevertheless, in Nasri you have what Arshavin doesn’t have: goals. Boy, we’ll need them.
That’s really great news. If SN8 cud b fit for wednesday game, Barca has no chance.
Arshavin’s performance today was very promising ahead of the Barca game. Hopefully he can keep that up in midweek as we need some of that spark on the left to keep Alves occupied. There is also no Puyol for Barca so we go up against Abidal in central defence which is always a nice treat. Come on you Gunners, lets kick some Spanish ass
the only bad news is sagna been suspended!!!im not very confident with eboue on the right against anyone let alone barca.
we really thank GOD for making nasri back on time. wenger should risk him against barca cos is an exceptional player and we shall beat barca in JESUS name! Amen……… UP GUNNER
Arsenal have to attack Barca from the first whistle and play to their biggest strength! Nasri i agree should be a bencher for definate. In Van Persie we have a devastating finisher who is on fire at the moment and i really believe Arshavin has turned the corner with his lack of self confidence. I am a very optimistic gooner looking forward to Wednesday.
very, very good player. let’s hope he features in both legs – and signs his new contract too!
In his interview with French TV after the game Wenger said Nasri has a 60/40 chance of playing and they will assess him Monday and Tuesday…
good!
Thank god my world best is back.barca wil see hell
good news 4 all arsenal fans S Nasri is back thank God. let use him vs barca match ars will win.
Problem for me are 2 full backs,,Clichy and Eboue!
I’m happy with the news on Samir. It will be very sad to drop Arshavin against Barca. He didn’t play against Barca last time as he was cup-tied. I’m sure Arshavin will have something in store for a game like this one. It will be very sad to drop him. I feel it will really knock his confidence. I hope Arshavin starts and Nasri can come in later in the 2nd half.
@balkriskna agreed. i said after last years defeat that vermalen needs to play left back for champions lge games but unfortunetly hes injuried
i have got no problem with god although i’m not religious. but why capitilize god? doesn’t make to much sense to me, i know he/she/it is important to you.
anyways, THANK GOD nasri is back 😉 if he’s on the bench, that’ll be alright for me, would love to see him starting, but pushing him does no good for anyone.
@Daymee: AA23 played last year vs barca but was subtituted in the 1st half due to injury
Thank God my hero (NASRI) is back. I just wanna see on that day, either on the bench or on field. Barca will see hell. Up gunners!!
IS GOOD TO HEAR THIS, MY BROTHER FROM DIFFERENT MOTHER IS BACK, MAY GOD ALMIGHTY HELP US, THIS OUR TIME UP GUNNERS…
I can’t wait to see super NASRI back.
Barcelona 2 see hell on wednesday, we ar going 2 win both legs by Gods grace.
did everyone seriously start using capitals more after i said that? or is just coincidence?
I MISTAKENLY STARTED A FACKING TREND!
I cant wait to see Wilshire showing bacar that our own DNA is stronger than theirs… Nasri or no Nasri Baca is going down

Let samir nasri play against barca bcoz is necessary part of arsenal tools on wednesday.,samir nasri is the best presently player now: Asene wenger are made a big mistake in january for player you refused to sign bcoz you dont want to spend money you mention Cahil you are not accept the deal his shame to you
dont risk nasri, leave him on the bench. remember what happened to gallas? if he`s not 100 %, wenger should not even put him in, keep him fit for the 2nd leg. what i would like to see is milito starting for barca, then we would rip them apart. but that wont happen 😀
anyway, dont get too optimistic, keep it real, we play against the best team in the world. i, personally, dont expect to score 3-4 goals, i would be happy with just 1-0, and the only way that to happen is all of our players to be concentrated to the maximum. btw supersam, i feel the same way too, so you got my support 😀
why is sagna suspended? did he get sent off last round or incur two yellows?
Sagna is suspended because he got a straight red card in our last group match
just watched last year’s 1st leg at Emirates…. boy, do Barca pass the ball like noone ever before….they are true class
PS. remember Almunia’s saves that evening 😉
Xavi again is already spouting his rubbish about having Cesc at Barca, our players really need to rise to the occasion and our fans really need to make it uncomfortable for them!
