Blanc: Nasri won't be signing new contract at Arsenal

France manager Laurent Blanc has revealed that Samir Nasri will not sign a new contract at Arsenal, as talks between the Frenchman and Manchester City are expected to continue this week.

The former Marseille midfielder, who has less than year left on his existing contract, is yet to sign a new deal with Premier League rivals City the favourites to acquire the 24-year-old’s services.

Blanc was speaking to in his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly against Chile – where Nasri is expected to start.

“As far as I know he’s still an Arsenal player [at the moment]. I know he’s in talks with his club, not about signing a new contract, but to find a new club as he told me he won’t be signing a new contract”, Blanc said.

Arsene Wenger’s preparations for the Premier League season opener at Newcastle United on Saturday have been thrown into turmoil by the prospect of him losing his two best midfielders – Cesc Fabregas and Nasri.
