'Arsenal wouldn't be Arsenal without Wenger', says Frimpong
|Emmanuel Frimpong has heaped praise on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, insisting that he is the right man for the job despite a recent poor run of form.
The 19-year-old Ghanaian midfielder believes under-fire Wenger needs to be given ‘more time to put things right again’, claiming that ‘everyone at Arsenal is happy to have him here’.
French tactician Wenger has come in for criticism for the Gunners’ poor start to the season, which followed the sales of star midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri during the summer.
“Obviously this season hasn’t started that well, everyone knows that,” Frimpong told Soccer AM.
“But we’ve still got some quality players in the squad and hopefully we’ll turn things around.
“At the same time I think everyone is being a bit harsh on the manager. Everyone knows what he’s done for the game. He’s done a lot for Arsenal and Arsenal wouldn’t be Arsenal today if it wasn’t for him in my opinion.
“So I just think that everyone needs to calm down and give him time to put things right again. He’s a nice man and everyone at Arsenal is happy to have him there.”
Frimpong’s quotes come shortly after the news that a minority of Arsenal fans have organised a protest with an anti-Wenger banner before Sunday’s game against Sunderland.

well said frimmy
Every young player talks Arsene up because no matter how poor they are they will play at AFC because of the low standards of Arsene Wegner. Shut up Frim and concentrate on playing 45 proper minutes.
arsenal were arsenal along time before arsene wenger,f.f.s,yeah lets keep a manager that refuses to adapt to tday’s game,we are in a relegation battle make no mistake about it,and that’s with arsene wenger incharge.
I support Arsenal Football Club not Arsene Wegner, he has been awful for the last 7 years. He is getting away with murder, no other club in the world would allow him to carry on the way he is doing at AFC, this is history…..
Why should we listen to this prat!? Only played about 3 games and was sent off. Shutp up, get your head down and earn a career – you aint Robert Pires or Dennis Bergkamp ffs.
I dont hate Wenger, but Frimpong your an idiot. ridiculous thing to say,
Arsenal fans these days are so incredibly jarring its funny. He’s defending his manager, what do you expect him to do?
b4 arsene arsenal wasn’t a top4 club anymore remember rioch 6th position @ most. And that team had legends in it. T. Adams dixon bergkamp -. Wright winterburn platt get. A bit of perspective here
some Arsenal fans are the most spoilt brats. They are taking things for granted.
Leave the lad alone. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even you Haters!
I agree with jimmy. Some Arsenal fans (a minority, I hope) have lost all sense of perspective. It is true that the season has started off less than ideally and the defence department has given us lots to worry BUT we are not in crisis and we are not relegation material as some dramatic fans would have us believe. In fact, there are real reasons for us to be optimistic:
1. We are still in the early stage of the season. Yes, everyone knows the defence is worrying, so does Arsene but we DO have a strong and talented squad of players. I am sure they are working at it. I am optimistic that soon we will be winning our games and keeping more clean sheets. It cannot get worse than what it is now.
2. Two or three wins will push us to the top 8 and if the current top 2 teams drop a few points, we are poised to challenge.
3. We play most of the top teams away in the first half of the season. We will have got our act together by the time they visit us at home.
4. Arsenal have traditionally started strong and impressive only to fizzle out at the home stretch. Who knows this time, it’s the other way around.
5. There is also the exciting prospects of one or two top quality additions to the squad this January to look forward to.
So cheer up. It’s not all doom and gloom. Have faith, gunners!
You guys are so spoiled he to took us to plenty of cup finals and and thrilling premiership races truth is with out him Arsenal wouldn’t be global like they are now. You’ll see worthless cunt supporters Arsene FC will dominate the next 10 years mark my words..
Frimpong your reasoning brain stil milky i don’t think that ward came from your mouth at the right time Wenger is Not the first manager at Arsenal
What Bollocks from Frimpong. He has probably never heard of George Graham.6 trophies in 8 seasons. These young players need to take a history lesson about Arsenal. Its Arsenal FC not Arsene FC
If Arenal wouldnt be Arsenal without Wenger, what would Arsenal be without Wenger? Prat
Contrary to this clown’s belief, there was an Arsenal before Wenger. Emmanuel should shut up and concentrate on not getting sent off again.
In Arsene we rust.
All the kids have to sing Wenger’s praises. They are beholden to him. However I beleive as do many many fans he has lost his way.He still plays in the same style ie kami kaze attack with no goals to show inspite of the one thousand chances created. And when the opposition scores ,he is at a loss as to how the gunners can’t score. It’s like US forces conducting a search and destroy operation.Enemy has been eliminated but sudenly the Telebam strikes back with a vengeance and many GIs die.
Sunderland won’t be a roll over. They will be all out to redeem themselves after the severe beating by Stoke.I believe Bruce will play anti soccer and let the gunners have five hundred % possession and hit on the break. When you are expected to lose, you must try to nullify the opposition not clash head on.
Do Arsenal Board have money for Arsene? We have American crap running AFC like enterprise…Guys, open your eyes, you barking at the wrong tree.
Former Arsenal boss says;
No one from the club has said we have enough money for Arsene to buy whoever he wants. I’m not talking about a £10m player, I’m talking about players of real quality, those costing £30m to make a big difference.
At this moment all Arsenal supporter should stick together and support our team and also Wenger.
Any news on Vermaelen? He should return to action soon!?
@Bullett:
what are you talking about?? based on youth, our carling cup teams consistantly look younger and stronger than most other clubs.
Another band-wagon-jumping comment by people who have their glass always half-empty.
if you want a constant supply of glory support United/barca or whoever is currently winning and when they start losing claim to be a neutral
