Late Ramsey goal secures win in France – Marseille 0-1 Arsenal

A last-gasp winner from substitute Aaron Ramsey gave Arsenal victory over Marseille in France, moving the Gunners to the top of their Champions League group.

Both sides had penalty shouts turned down in the first half, with 19-year-old defender Carl Jenkinson clearly handling a cross, while Souleymane Diawara similarly handled Mikel Arteta’s searching ball.

Arsenal enjoyed most of the possession in the second half and they made the all-important breakthrough in the 92nd minute when Aaron Ramsey calmly slotted home after the ball had fallen into his path.

It was a confidence-boosting goal for Arsene Wenger’s side, who are now above their French opponents at the top of Group F.

Arsenal’s Starting XI: Szczesny, Jenkinson (Djourou 62), Mertesacker, Koscielny, Santos, Song, Rosicky, Arteta, Walcott (Gervinho 67), Arshavin (Ramsey 68), van Persie.

Subs not used: Fabianski, Benayoun, Coquelin, Chamakh.
