Late Ramsey goal secures win in France – Marseille 0-1 Arsenal
|A last-gasp winner from substitute Aaron Ramsey gave Arsenal victory over Marseille in France, moving the Gunners to the top of their Champions League group.
Both sides had penalty shouts turned down in the first half, with 19-year-old defender Carl Jenkinson clearly handling a cross, while Souleymane Diawara similarly handled Mikel Arteta’s searching ball.
Arsenal enjoyed most of the possession in the second half and they made the all-important breakthrough in the 92nd minute when Aaron Ramsey calmly slotted home after the ball had fallen into his path.
It was a confidence-boosting goal for Arsene Wenger’s side, who are now above their French opponents at the top of Group F.
Arsenal’s Starting XI: Szczesny, Jenkinson (Djourou 62), Mertesacker, Koscielny, Santos, Song, Rosicky, Arteta, Walcott (Gervinho 67), Arshavin (Ramsey 68), van Persie.
Subs not used: Fabianski, Benayoun, Coquelin, Chamakh.
fantastic win, come on arsenal!!!!
Well done lads, everyone will talk about the game being dull and boring because it was Arsenal. If it was Manu, Man Shitty or Barca they would be classified as unlucky, but the last time i check is goal win matches not what the media thinks. Gunners for life….
Ramsey is back. Good goal and deserved win.
great win for us,but we must be real it was weak performance in game that we se by arsena!Definitely we need some refresh in our team such as llorente, gourcuff, cahill and m’villa! Not this playere specially but someone who will back us in top 4!!!
great win i watched the game and gota say this is a hard one to call when Vermaelen is fit Koscielny or Vermaelen Mertesacker or we could try all 3 with wing backs lol gota say Koscielny looks in great from
Amazing win, I really think that this could be the turning point and we’ll reach a top4 spot at the end of the season.
stevetopgun: Koscielny + Vermaelen = Let the clean sheets hit the floor! 😀
