Arsenal smash four past Latics – Wigan 0-4 Arsenal

Arsenal continued their impressive Premier League run with a dominant display over Wigan on Saturday afternoon, running out 4-0 winners.

The Gunners opened the scoring after 28 minutes when Mikel Arteta fired in from distance, albeit via a howler from Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

It was 2-0 moments later when Thomas Vermaelen headed home a Robin van Persie corner just before the half-hour mark.

Gervinho netted his third goal for the club to put the away side 3-0 ahead on the hour mark after he was released by Robin van Persie.

Arsene Wenger’s side controlled the match in the latter stages and added a fourth after 78 minutes when van Persie slotted home from close range.

Arsenal’s next game is in Greece against Olympiacos on Wednesday, while they’ll hope to continue their rise up the Premier League table when they play Everton next weekend.

The difference between us now an the past 3-4 seasons is now we have a group of born and bread, young, passionate players who love the club, plus experienced, professional role models to guide them.

Vermaelen is a better striker than Andy Carrol.

my oppinion is that wenger has become wise. i mean, in the last 4-5 years his goal was to develop yougsters into stars which will rule english premierleague and europe in the next 10 years, but he obviously sees that teams like barca and man city steal our players as soon as they peak, so he changed his mind. now he is signing more experienced players, finished articles more or less, he is thinking about the near future, and you can easily see that arteta, andre santos, mertesacker fit in straight away and play with hunger for the club, they… Read more »
