Diaby back in contention for Liverpool clash

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby will be in the squad to face Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow lunchtime, manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The Frenchman hasn’t played since November’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund and had previously been missing after having ankle surgery during the summer.

Diaby, 25, became an important figure in Arsenal’s 2009-10 campaign, in which he started 26 Premier League matches, but since then he has not started a match since the final day of last season amid fears his susceptibility to injury may never fully disappear.

However, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Diaby is in contention for Saturday’s trip to Anfield after the former Auxerre spent time undergoing rehabilitation in both Qatar and America.

It’s great… Hopefully he can now get a good run of games in and prove what he’s about…!

Great news!! It puts more pressure on Ramsey Benayoun and Rosicky to perform even better.

Great news having Diaby back. Brings a bit more strength and height to our midfield. Fingers crossed he says fit for the rest of the season

This couldn’t have come at a better time with Rambo out and struggling for form anyway. I would expect him to make a sub appearance at some stage, particularly if Rosicky goes back to being average again. A fully fit Diaby in form is a sight to behold and if he stays fit for the season this will be a big big LANS.

Its great news! Decreases pressure on AFC’s over-worked midfield trio of Ramsey, Arteta and Song. Lets hope he can stay fit for the rest of the season!

glad to see him back, I like his way of playing and when he’s fit
he can be a great addition to our midfield
The most important thing for him is to make a long run of games without getting injured
So let’s hope for the best……

If Wenger starts him, let’s hope he gets injured in the first minute and retired from football. Arsenal is no place for slackers like Diaby.
