Diaby back in contention for Liverpool clash

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby will be in the squad to face Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow lunchtime, manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed.

The Frenchman hasn’t played since November’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund and had previously been missing after having ankle surgery during the summer.

Diaby, 25, became an important figure in Arsenal’s 2009-10 campaign, in which he started 26 Premier League matches, but since then he has not started a match since the final day of last season amid fears his susceptibility to injury may never fully disappear.

However, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Diaby is in contention for Saturday’s trip to Anfield after the former Auxerre spent time undergoing rehabilitation in both Qatar and America.
