Vito Mannone expected to start against Stoke
|Italian goalkeeper Vito Mannone looks likely to start for Arsenal against Stoke today after Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski were ruled out through injury.
The third choice shot stopper made just one appearance in a Gunners’ shirt last season, as a substitute during Arsenal’s 3-1 Champions League defeat by Olympiacos.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger appeared confident on Friday that Szczesny and Fabianski would both be available, but fitness staff at the club feel they could ‘aggravate’ their respective injuries’ if involved in today’s game.
Mannone can expected a tough encounter at the Britannia Stadium later this afternoon where previous visits have seen Arsenal beaten on three of their last four visits.

Oh good god no!
What a big problem will dis cost us by putting vito mannone in the goalpost ! He lacks experience & confidence . I saw his game against cologne in germany early dis month ( shambolic performance ) he committed a big blunder in the champions league last match of the group stage against olympiacos in greece back in september 2011 . Can every arsenal fans now agree with me dat we still need a reliable 2nd choice goalkeeper not only to be a benchwarmer but to atleast give the first choice goalie a run 4 his money .
jesus christ this is fuckin all we need.
and this why we need to purchase a good No2 even our No1 is dodgy.
he’ll fuck up, i’m certain we’ll lose the game because of him…
1-0 down already 🙁
oh good god no,why? vito if given a proper run in the first team is hands down better than fabiansky and woyciech.so just wish him good luck and dont underestimate vito
though stoke is a hard & stubborn team to play especialy @ the Britainia stadium, but i tink d italian(votor mannone) deserve a chance.apparenyly scezne yis now untouchable exept wen injury calls like this.fabianski can also be a flop at times with so many opportunities he had to compare to that of V.mannone.i can remember vividly well, there was a particular period he was so impressive & outstanding for the team, but the form is no way to found because of lack of playing time, lets give him a chance since is becoming obvious that the management is not making any solid effort in signing any keeper for now.it’s a gamble that we will not loose especially now that both no 1 & 2 is out injured
