Wilshere likely to start at Old Trafford

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is expected to start against Manchester United tomorrow after impressing Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger in training this week.

The 20-year-old is finally back in action after 17 months sidelined following a stress fracture in his ankle and was handed a surprise start against Queens Park Rangers last weekend.

Wilshere showed no ill-effects from the win over QPR and now looks set to start alongside Santi Cazorla and Mikel Arteta in the Arsenal midfield at Old Trafford.

“Jack can cope with all the expectations because the one thing he has learned during that long spell out is that 17 months in the life of a young boy is massive”, said Wenger.

“So I just want Jack to enjoy playing again. He is a boy who just loves to play and the most important thing is to keep that happiness on the pitch.

“Saturday is a very important game for us away to one of the big teams of the Premier League.”

Probable Arsenal XI: Mannone (GK), Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen (c), Santos, Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott, Giroud, Podolski.
