Diaby not expected back until early 2013
|Arsenal’s injury plagued Abou Diaby isn’t expected to figure in the Gunners’ side until January at the earliest, but has been pencilled in to return to light training ‘within the next fortnight’.
The French international midfielder, who has managed to play just nine Premier League games in the last two seasons, has been out since early October after sustaining a troublesome thigh injury in the 2-1 defeat against Chelsea.
Diaby’s injury problems have prompted speculation that Arsenal may look for a replacement in the January transfer window, with West Ham’s combative midfielder Mohamed Diame the latest of several players to be linked this week.
Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger recently admitted that Diaby’s continuous injuries are the result of his weakened muscle strength.
“I can tell you he has been everywhere in the world to be assessed”, said Wenger.
“There is an explanation. He is quick, strong, has good stamina, good resistance to repeat, but his muscle strength is not good enough to deal with that. Sometimes little fibres go in his muscles, this is basically his problem”.
Physio staff at London Colney have put Diaby on a regular training programme which has seen the former Auxerre man spend much of the past few months building up his fitness in the gym.
26-year-old Diaby is likely to be involved in a Arsenal Under-21s match towards the end of December, although the club have yet to decide on arranging a a ‘less competitive’ behind-closed-doors friendly for the Frenchman instead.
what is going on why is he still at the club , more excuses from wenger time for both of them to go and take gazidis with you
Time to go, too much money paid for so little done!
7 years at the club.It used to be a joke but not anymore. How is he still an Arsenal player?
I really admire him as a player and would like to see him play at least 30 games a season. He had a lot of problems and its going to be very difficult for him to play “normally”.
Thats why we must to sign player of his stature. Fellaini is the ideal “replacement” but that would need a lot of money.
Why is he still employed at this club ? What the hell does he actually offer ? Plays a coipe of games and months on the sidelines – oh I know he is FRENCH thats why he stays. A useless player managed by an even more useless manager. Time for Wenger to go and it cannot come quick enough..
If i were the manager i would buy fellaini or diame and get rid of diaby. Ps.i still love diaby and his style of play, but not worth having when the only thing we get is an injured player.
a certain french young dm frenchman who’s rumours disappeared perhaps?
Wenger is biased. diaby is useless crock for months on end earning top salary doing nothing! If arshavin has no future, how can diaby has future at the club by being sick 80-90% of the time? How is it that squillaci still got a future at the club?? Stupid manager destroying the club.
Diaby is not eligible for gunners.I think Wenger need to sell him and buy Vidal/Cabaya.They are really so much better than Diaby and have better consistency for the team.
This has gone beyond a joke Wenger just makes excuse after excuse why do we always have longest injury list as we slip further down the league? I am suprised he had not made a bid for Owen and Dyer
i think he should seriously think of international retirement……… he needs to be properly managed.. where he plays week in and week out until he get to a suitable level of fitness..
You people who want wenger out so badly where the fuck do u think we woud b without him we would b mud table team with no champions league football or decent players its the money grabbing board and the yes man Ivan gazidis that need to go
SACK THE BOARD SACK THE BOARD SACK THE BOARD
Let’s do nothing. Don’t look for a world class replacement, nor even try sell him for next to nothing , and buy a promising replacement for even less. When we win F all again we can blame a poor run of injuries and reiterate the strong spirit across the squad and chuck yet more money at the club to fund kroenke s dividend payments to himself . Long live the self sustaining model.
