Fabianski & Mannone set to leave Arsenal at end of season

Goalkeeping duo Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone have told Arsenal officials they want to leave the club this summer.

Poland international Fabianski is considered second choice between the sticks behind compatriot Wojciech Szczesny, while Mannone last featured for the Gunners’ in mid-October.

Fabianski, who has 20 caps for his country, joined Arsenal five years ago but has struggled with injury and has been culpable of several high-profile errors including this FA Cup semi-final howler against Chelsea.

Similarly, Italian shot stopper Mannone has failed to convince Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that he’s first choice material despite a handful of impressive performances.

Wenger is expected to scour the transfer market for an established goalkeeper this summer following Szczesny’s inconsistent form in goal, with youngsters Damien Martinez and James Shea likely to be sent out on season-long loan deals respectively.

Meanwhile, Marouane Chamakh, Park Chu-Young and Denilson will all be allowed to leave Arsenal at the end of the season, while Sebastien Squillaci and Andrey Arshavin have been told they will not be offered contract extensions when their deals expire this summer.

Nicklas Bendtner, who was arrested for drink driving in his native Denmark this week, has been told he will be given one ‘final chance’ during the Gunners’ pre-season training camp after returning from an injury-hit loan spell at Juventus.

Highly-rated youngsters Serge Gnabry and Thomas Eisfeld will also be given plenty of pre-season opportunities, with Wenger satisfied that they are both ‘ready’ for first team football.
