Sanogo passes medical – get the lowdown on Arsenal's latest signing
Yaya Sanogo is the latest young starlet to have been plucked from France’s second division by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
The 20-year-old has passed his medical at London Colney and is expected to be confirmed as a Gunners player when his contract expires at the end of June.
Who is Yaya Sanogo?
Sanogo has been capped for the French U-21 side and follows in the footsteps of Arsenal duo Bacary Sagna and Abou Diaby – both products of the successful Auxerre youth set-up.
Worryingly for Arsenal fans, Sanogo’s injury problems have seen him make only eleven league starts this season where he has scored nine goals.
Blessed with great technical ability, acceleration and ball control, Sanogo has already drawn comparisons with the likes of Abou Diaby and Yaya Toure.
Sanogo on the move:
“Arsenal could be a great club for me, I scored nine goals this season with Auxerre and they think I can improve my level in England.”
Wenger on Sanogo:
“I am very confident. He is a young striker who is promising, and has a big talent.”

If we went out and got top draw gk,dm and striker and maybe more crative drive in the midfield like ben arfa then we can be happy about the 2013/14 season. but wenger wont do that, he will buy one ok player for like 15,16 mill then buy loads of players like Sanogo. this is probs wengers last season so happy days

This is not what we need.This guy is not a young player for your info. I mean we need top players added to the team to assure we succeed next season. we really don’t need sagna at all next season,we don’t need ramsey as a regular but he should be in the team,we don’t need Giroud and Podolski as a regular, infact Podolski should be sold,we don’t need metersacker as a regular especially against pacy strikers . We need a right full back like kyle walker, a defensive midfielder like Song or jones, 2 strikers like Jovetic and cavani, centre back like Kosielny,and julio caeser. what more do we need except Wenger and Bould working together like the later part of last season. I pray it works this way.

The way the player I mean Yaya Sanogo was handling and command the ball on the pitch made me realized that He is going to be a great player for Arsenal.But I pray that He is not going to be an injury prone player like Abu Diaby

I bet that no one of you would have accepted Michu or Benteke last year but now you would take them for whatever price. There is no rule that says that you can not be good if you are not famous. I bet that you will all eat your words if the Guy makes a hit such as Sturridge or Benteke. They were all unknown at the beginning of the year yet they made wonders. Waoo wenger is just a mess. How can you rush this injury prone player. I need people like Luwandoski, Soldado, Cavani or that Stevan Jovetic. What are we going to do with this boy now, is he among those that will strengthen the team.
The young players with potential are the easy ones to sign. The big names take longer to organise. So every year the 1st purchase is a very young player (jenkinson come to mind) and then the morons come on the web-sites and shout that this is all we will buy. Every year they are wrong. AW has always bought more than 1 or 2 youngsters. OK the others may not be ‘world class’ but he does buy more so stop being idiots and wait a bit (at minimum until the transfer window opens!) before you start showing us you know nothing! This year he has a much better budget and may surprise you.
Who was cesc fabregas wen we signed him? Who was patrick viera, thierry henry, rvp, pires, ljungberg….I guarantee all you people slag this guy where the ones slating wenger wen he signed all them mentioned players and look how they all turned out!!!…everyone should be patient he is one for da future…we are obviously going to sign someone for next season to play up front who is a big player….can’t believe you all calling him a crap signing when 90% of you haven’t even seen him play
Can’t believe our first signing is an injury prone player from France! Although I’m slightly optimistic about his quality (as i’m sure our scouts and Wenger know more than me) it would be nice for the club to demonstrate their desire to challenge for silverware by paying what the going rate is for quality!!! AND NOW PLEASE… don’t wait for Chelsea, City, Juve or whoever to steal our prospects again! I’m still struggling with the departures of RVP, Song, Nasri, Clichy, Fabregas, Toure etc. all within 3 years, our best players walking out cause our board have profits rather than silverware as a priority.. oh, and don’t forget a wage structure suitable for the Championship!

Good shout Andy Mack!! Should we sit back and wait until these players make it and then try and sign them for ten times the price?? Don’t be morons, we have a good youth system and it would be idiotic not to try and sign up and coming talent! Other teams do it, lukaku, chicarito, raphael, sterling etc etcyou want to end up like spuds!! It doesn’t mean AW won’t go for big signings this summer, there have always been bigger name signings and this year we have more money at our disposal, so watch this space!!

People stop moaning the summer transfer market has just begun! He is a free transfer so what if its a gamble if this is the only striker we bring in then fine but can’t see this happening. Great but and all the best to him. Ps spending millions on a striker is not always great #50 mil #torres
For a free signing? Good news. Not much of a gamble when there is no transfer fee. Unless his preseason is outstanding i doubt we will see much of him for a while. League cups and FA Cups an occasional sub appearance in the league. Lets just hope the worst of his injury issues are behind him so we do get to see what he is really made of. Now Wenger move and and please focus on getting us some experience and class too.
@ kenn mac, AW hasn’t had the money to risk on expensive players in the last 5 years. I’m not saying he’ll spend 50m on 1 or more, or that any expensive player we buy will turn out to be a ‘TH14’ but moaning before the transfer window is even open is really the sign of people that have no understanding of the process involved.

I think we are laying too much focus on the negative. We should not forget the likes of messi, even van p’ who had injury problems in the early phase of their career. Let’s not be swift with our judgments. Who knows, maybe he his our new thierry.
