Wenger confirms Cesc release clause
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the Gunners have a clause in Cesc Fabregas’ contract which could see the Barcelona star re-join the club next season.
Fabregas emerged as a target for Manchester United this week after David Moyes reportedly made an offer for the 26-year-old who he sees as a replacement for retired midfielder Paul Scholes.
However, Wenger who also insisted the north London giants are not close to signing anyone, is adamant that Fabregas won’t be leaving the Nou Camp this summer.
“Fabregas has decided to stay one more year at Barcelona. Unless he has changed his mind. I don’t know”, revealed Wenger.
“But that’s what I have been told. We have the clause in his contract so we would be on alert but at the moment that’s not something we are after.”
If Arsenal do reignite their interest in Fabregas next year, they would receive priority over other clubs and be able to activate a £25m buy-back clause which was included in the original deal that saw him move to Spain.
World Cup winner Fabregas spent eight years under Wenger’s management, playing 303 games and scoring 57 goals, before returning to his boyhood club in August 2011 for £25.4m.

Very interesting that Wenger has put a time frame here with Cesc.
That’s the first time I’ve heard anyone anywhere mention ‘one more year at Barcelona’ implying that this time next year we may well be bringing him back where he really belongs.

@rizal: Barca still owe a significant chunk of the fee, so it would be misleading to say he went there for £35m. They’ve paid under £26m in total.
I can’t believe the arrogance of some United fans.
Why would Cesc, who is in constant communication with Wenger who he sees as his second father, choose to go to Manchester United?
Cesc loves Arsenal. I know that has been said for many players, but you can see he REALLY does. He had so much passion when he played in the red and white, and the fans loved him.
He has stated while at Barcelona that if he were to leave Spain, it would only be if it was back to Arsenal.
Wenger knows something. Like I said, he is in constant communication with Cesc, and he says he will stay for “one more year”. It is almost like Cesc looks to Wenger for advice.
It is obvious that Cesc has told Wenger that if after this season he is not getting the game time he craves, then he will be coming home to Arsenal.
wenger has no intention of buying cesc back…cesc made it easy for wenger declining united..united fans are not arrogant they took rvp so cesc is not a impossible signing…i feel if fergie was still here cesc would have thought about the move

I aint going to be surprised Feb were to go to OT.The reason he has abetter chance of winning trophies. When he was at Arsenal,I believe he got disenchanted with the pretty soccer. He once said if you want to win,play anti soccer. So be it.
Wenger in a way is to be blamed.His emphasis on project y and pretty soccer are the main problems.His scrooge style will mean Arsenal will get players on tw deadline,believe me.
