Roma expected to seal the signing of Gervinho
|Italian giants AS Roma are days away from completing a £6.9m move for Arsenal forward Gervinho.
The Ivory Coast international has been targeted by coach Rudi Garcia, who managed him at Lille, for several weeks and is considered the club’s main current transfer target.
According to various reports in Italy, the move will be sealed once Roma raise their offer to £6.9m (€8m), although Arsenal value the player at a slightly increased figure of around £7.7m (€9m).
26-year-old Gervinho has failed to establish himself as a key first team player since his move from France back in 2011, scoring just 9 goals in under 50 appearances.
Arsenal have already been linked with replacements for Gervinho including Brazil’s Confederations Cup starlet Bernard and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has undergone a major clean-out of fringe players this summer which has seen the likes of Andrey Arshavin, Denilson and Sebastien Squillaci all leave north London.
