Gibbs fit for Fenerbahce clash

Kieran Gibbs will be available for Arsenal’s vital Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old was taken off midway through the first half of Saturday’s disappointing season opener defeat to Aston Villa following a clash of heads with Andreas Weimann.

Gibbs, who required stitches after suffering the laceration, is now expected to retain his left-back spot on Wednesday night after his brother confirmed via Twitter that the Englishman is ‘fine’.

Arsenal are already without Nacho Monreal and skipper Thomas Vermaelen, while right-back Bacary Sagna is another major injury doubt for the Gunners.

Reports also claim that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be out for at least six months with knee ligament damage after colliding with Antonio Luna during Saturday’s 3-1 loss.
