"The better team won", admits Liverpool boss Rodgers
|Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits that Arsenal’s convincing 2-0 victory over his side at Emirates Stadium was fully deserved.
The Reds were outplayed by Arsene Wenger’s men who scored in both halves through in-form midfielders Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey.
While Rodgers’ second placed team created several chances, it was Arsenal who were more clinical and dominant, securing their position at the top of the Premier League for at least another week.
“I thought the best team won. They [Arsenal] had a greater control of the game – but we still had chances”, said Rodgers.
Meanwhile, Arsenal travel to Germany on Wednesday for a vital Champions League group stage match against Borussia Dortmund.
The Gunners will be looking for a measure of revenge when they face Jurgen Klopp’s well-oiled side following a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture at Emirates Stadium.
Kieran Gibbs (calf) is an injury doubt, meaning Nacho Monreal is likely to fill in for the Englishman. Jack Wilshere may not be risked after having problems with a recurring ankle knock.
