Bendtner arrested on suspicion of criminal damage

Bendtner

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner was arrested yesterday on suspicion of criminal damage at his apartment block in Hertfordshire.

The 25-year-old Denmark international was questioned by police after the communal gym doors were kicked in and a window was allegedly smashed by the want away frontman in Bushey – not far from Arsenal’s London Colney training ground.

Bendtner was expected to leave the Gunners in September after two failed loan spells with Sunderland and Juventus – but ended up staying at Emirates Stadium due to the Gunners lack of match fit strikers.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger’s depleted forward options mean that Bendtner is currently the only other available first team striker alongside French international Olivier Giroud.

And it’s not the first time Bendtner has landed himself in trouble..

* Photographed stumbling out of a London nightclub with his jeans around his ankles just hours after Arsenal Champions League semi-final defeat to Manchester United in 2009.

* He was arrested in September 2011 over a brawl at a luxury hotel while on loan at Sunderland.

* Fined £80,000 and banned for one match after pulling down his shorts to reveal bookmaker-sponsored underwear while playing for Denmark at the Euro 2012 tournament.

* He was arrested at the end of last season in Copenhagen for drink driving and was subsequently banned from the Danish national team for six months.
