POLL: Should Arsenal do everything to keep Bacary Sagna at the club?

Bacary Sagna has been a loyal servant to Arsenal Football Club since arriving from Auxerre in the summer of 2007.

The right-back, who turns 31 next month, has six months remaining on his current deal meaning he is now able to sign a pre-contract with a foreign side and end his seven year spell at Arsenal.

Sagna is currently in talks with Arsenal officials over extending his stay at Emirates Stadium, but it’s expected that the likes of free-spending Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco will make approaches for the France international defender.

“We are not far [from an agreement],” said Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. “I will push very hard to get it done.”

“We cannot stop him from doing that [signing a pre-contract agreement to leave].

“But for me, that is not a problem because when you are a professional football player, you do until the last day, of where you are, your best. If you don’t do that, you are not professional for me.

“I don’t question Sagna’s commitment until the last day of his contract.”

Do you think Arsenal should do absolutely everything to keep Sagna at the club?

Is Carl Jenkinson ready to step-up or would a move for a young, up and coming player like Seamus Coleman be more fruitful?
