Arsenal v Manchester United: Josh Franceschi gives his view on the big game, RvP & more

Josh Franceschi has told Gooner Talk why he is in confident mood ahead of Wednesday’s crucial Premier League clash against Manchester United.

Franceschi, a self-confessed Arsenal supporter, is the lead singer of rock band You Me At Six who recently bagged their first ever number 1 album with ‘Cavalier Youth’.

The 23-year-old season ticket holder, who was taken to his first Arsenal game by his dad at just six-months old, told us where he thinks United’s main threat will come from and why he would never consider re-signing a certain former player!

Which United player are you most worried about facing?

All the focus recently has been about [Juan] Mata joining United, and of course he’s a world class player. That being said Rooney for me is a game changer. If he turns up and we allow him to dictate play for them, it could be a rough ride.

Would you re-sign former striker Robin van Persie if the opportunity presented itself?

RVP severed his ties at Arsenal due to the manner in which he left. We stuck by him through his darkest hours when he was out on the sidelines. He gave us 18 months (give or take) of week in, week out goals and brilliance. I was so angry and disappointed when he left because no one wants to lose their captain and their leading goal scorer to a rival at the time. I don’t begrudge him or Na$ri for wanting silverware, but they owed Wenger more, in my opinion. In short, no. Him and the little boy inside of him screaming ‘Manchester United’ can go chase their dreams in the Europa League….

Who do you think has been Arsenal’s best player so far?

This is a tough one because I believe Arsenal’s success this season is not down to one individual, but the squad as a collective have been brilliant. Obviously Per and Kos as a defensive pair have been nothing short of world class. I’m really really happy for Rambo as I feel many Arsenal fans (shamefully myself included) were quick to get on his back, credit to Wenger by standing by his players and in turn the players repaying the faith. For me Ramsey has been the stand out player.

Finally Josh, what’s your prediction for Arsenal v Manchester United and why?

First and foremost I think Arsenal are going to win. We’re in good form and United’s form has been so hit and miss this season. We’ve been strong at home this season and for the first time in a long time I genuinely don’t look at United as a threat this season.

You Me At Six’s new album Cavalier Youth is available to buy now.
