Fenerbahçe eye move for Arsenal forward Joel Campbell
|Turkish giants Fenerbahçe have made Joel Campbell one of their primary targets in the summer transfer window.
The Arsenal starlet, currently on loan at Olympiakos, has flourished in Greece this season, having racked up 9 goals and 11 assists in 29 appearances.
Reports emanating from Turkey suggest that Fenerbahçe manager Ersun Yanal has identified Campbell as the club’s main target ahead of next season, as he looks to bring the Süper Lig trophy back to the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
Campbell, 21, joined the Gunners in 2011 from Deportivo Saprissa and was granted a work permit last summer following a season on loan to Real Betis, but manager Arsene Wenger still decided to send him to the continent for another term.
Greek champions Olympiakos have already opened premilinary negotiations with Arsenal over the permanent signing of Campbell and the player himself has confirmed that he’s settled in Greece.
Wenger is said to be resigned to losing Campbell after being unable to promise the Costa Rica international regular first team football at Emirates Stadium.
It’d be a real shame to lose him already. He looked a real talent when we first signed him, and he’s done nothing to disprove that with his performances this season. Surely there’s a squad spot for him, being able to play on both flanks (even as a striker in League Cup) and with Miyaichi and Bendtner almost certain to leave.
looks like podolski is not wanted at arsenal after not selecting him vs Bayern up front so no need to sell campbell
I am sure that Bendtner and Young will not be here next season, and I am not really sure if Arsene has Benik Afobe in his plans either. So, it would be good to bring Campbell in and give him at least two seasons to prove himself.
Campbell is the only Arsenal player to score against Man United this season! It was a great goal also. We must bring him back for the start of next season
He is a great talent but he cant improve in Arsenal, he is still to young . Hope he comes to fener it Would be perfect for him.
