Arsenal close in on FC Nürnberg star Josip Drmić
|Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with German side FC Nürnberg over the signing of highly-rated forward Josip Drmić.
The 21-year-old, who has scored 15 goals in 26 appearances for the Bundesliga team, is already rumoured to be looking for accommodation in London ahead of a possible summer departure.
Former German international turned TV pundit Lothar Matthaus claims Drmić will be sold for ‘good profit’ to the Gunners.
“Arsenal are believed to be interested in Drmić,” Matthaus said on German television while working as a pundit.
“I know for a fact that his wife is looking for a flat in London. I assume that Drmić will finish the season with Nurnberg hopefully successful and Nurnberg will sell him afterwards with a good profit – in this case to Arsenal.”
Drmić has only played one season in Germany’s top flight after arriving from FC Zurich in his native Switzerland last summer, but has impressed in Germany and is considered their prized asset.
According to German football expert Raphael Honigstein, the youngster will probably be allowed to leave for a fee in the region of €7m if the club stay up.
“I don’t know what will happen,” Drmic told reporters on Wednesday when asked about his future.
He has 16 goals(with 52 shots), 3 assists, 21 key passes and 24 chances created in 27 bundesliga appearances, a 60% shot accuracy and 65% pass completion.
