Wenger to make decision on Joel Campbell's future after World Cup
|Joel Campbell’s performances for Costa Rica at the 2014 FIFA World Cup are likely to determine his immediate future at Arsenal.
The 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Olympiakos, flourished during his time in Greece -winning the Greek Super League and racking up 10 goals and 11 assists in 30 appearances
Campbell joined the Gunners in 2011 from Deportivo Saprissa and was granted a work permit last summer following a season on loan to Real Betis, but manager Arsene Wenger still decided to send him to the continent for another term.
“I only focus on my job”, Campbell said last week.
“Last season I was at Olympiacos, so I was only thinking about Olympiacos; now after the World Cup, I will only be thinking about Arsenal.”
In-demand forward Campbell is expected to be a key part of Costa Rica’s World Cup campaign where he will get another chance to showcase his talent to Gunners boss Wenger who will make a final decision on his future after the Brazil-based tournament.
Two Premier League clubs, believed to be Newcastle and Swansea, have already made tentative enquiries for Campbell, while Olympiakos are hopeful that the former Lorient loanee will opt to make his stay at Karaiskakis Stadium permanent.
Campbell is one for the next season. With his success in the Greek league, i think he is a better player than Sanogo, and wih Arsenal off-loading Bendtner, Park, Aneke, and quite possibly Afobe as well, i believe hat Campbell Wenger would be wise ti stick with Campbell and make him part of the team next season, as he offers pace and can also play on the right flank providing quality cover in case if any injury to Walcott.
