Galatasaray confident of landing Joel Campbell on season-long loan
|Turkish giants Galatasaray are confident of signing Arsenal forward Joel Campbell on a season-long loan, according to reports in Turkey.
The Costa Rica youngster has been training with his Arsenal teammates at their Austria pre-season training camp ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Campbell, who impressed on loan at Greek champions Olympiakos last season, is desperate to show Gunners boss Arsene Wenger how much he has improved since being signed by the club in 2011.
Despite not yet making a competitive appearance for Wenger’s men, Campbell has managed to gain considerable international and European experience, having been capped 35 times by Costa Rica and playing in the Champions League for Olympiakos.
West Ham, Everton, Southampton and Newcastle are all said to be interested in the 22-year-old, but it is Galatasaray who have made an offer of £800,000 to sign Campbell on a season-long loan.
Gala coach Cesare Prandelli believes that Campbell will fit perfectly into his 4-2-3-1 line-up where he could potentially be deployed behind star striker Burak Yilmaz.
Campbell will make his eagerly-anticipated Arsenal debut this weekend in the Emirates Cup alongside new signings Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Calum Chambers.
