Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has responded to Jamie Carragher’s claims that the Gunners’ need a better shot stopper – by posting a photo of his Golden Glove award from last season.
Szczesny’s side are regarded by many as one of the clubs that will be challenging for the title, and their recent 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield only heightened expectations.
Gunners boss Arsène Wenger has brought in the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy as he looks to build on last season’s fourth-place finish.
But former Liverpool defender Carragher feels that the north London club are still missing top quality in key positions and he believes that Szczesny, who kept the most Premier League clean sheets alongside Petr Cech last season, isn’t good enough for the north Londoners.
“Why has Arsène Wenger not done what José Mourinho has done? Why has he not bought a top goalkeeper?”, said Carragher.
“I wish Wenger would go out and buy a big goalkeeper, a strong centre-back, a big midfielder and a decent striker and go for it.”
Polish international Szczesny subtly hit back at Carragher’s comments earlier today by posting a photo of his 2013/14 Premier League Golden Glove award which he shared with Chelsea ‘keeper Cech.
Nice work, Wojciech!
