Greek champions Olympiakos have confirmed that they have yet to receive any formal offers from Arsenal for reported defensive target Kostas Manolas.

The 23-year-old, who impressed in the World Cup for Greece, has been linked with a move to the Gunners as cover for first choice pairing Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

Olympiakos strategic director Christian Karembeu admitted last week that potential suitors have made ‘enquiries’ and ‘proposals’ for the Greek centre back, but as of Tuesday afternoon there no official bids had been received.

Greek news outlet Sport24 report that Arsenal are in negoatiations with the player’s agents but Manolas is undecided whether to leave Piraeus and become third or fourth choice centre back at Emirates Stadium.

Naxos-born Manolas was one of his team’s star performers in Brazil as Greece reached the last-16, where they were knocked out on penalties by Joel Campbell’s Costa Rica side.

Since joining Olympiakos in 2012 he has won the Greek title in both his seasons in Piraeus and scored five goals in all competitions last season.

His current contract doesn’t run out until 2016, so any interested club would have to match Olympiakos’ £8million valuation in order to acquire the talented defender this summer.
