Podolski expected to leave Arsenal as Wenger puts his faith in Giroud and Sanogo

Lukas Podolski will be allowed to leave Arsenal before the transfer window closes, with both Juventus and Napoli interested in signing the German international.

Podolski has been touted to depart Emirates Stadium all summer and the big-money signing of Alexis Sanchez appears to be the trigger that will end the World Cup winner’s time with Arsenal.

Wenger is expected to utilise Sanchez’s ability to play upfront, while fellow forwards Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell will also be used sporadically throughout the season.

And according to Wenger, striker Olivier Giroud, who scored the equaliser against Everton on Saturday, also has the potential to contribute to the club’s attacking efforts this season.

“He scored 16 last season and what he demonstrated here when he came on was very convincing”, said Wenger.

“You never have to set limitations or targets for any player, but for me he is improving every year. I wouldn’t rule out that he will get 25 goals.”

Several European clubs have been strongly linked with wantaway Podolski in recent weeks, most notably Italian giants Juventus, who have identified the 29-year-old as one of three potential striker signings.

Poland-born striker Podolski has shown glimpses of his best form in an Arsenal shirt, but has struggled for consistency during his time in north London.

In 69 matches for the club, Podolski has netted 28 goals – 19 of which have come in the Premier League.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has a multitude of attacking options at his disposal and will let the former Cologne star leave if an offer in the region of £11million comes along before September 1st.
