Should Wenger go into the free-transfer market for a defender?
|Arsene Wenger has been linked with free-agents Joseph Yobo and Diego Lugano in a bid to solve the club’s defensive crisis.
Following the news of Mathieu Debuchy’s long term injury, Wenger finds his defensive resources stretched just a few weeks into the season.
Debuchy’s injury and an illness striking down Calum Chambers saw Hector Bellerin make is first competitive start for Arsenal at right-back in the 2-0 defeat against Borussia Dortmund.
Once fit again, Chambers is likely to slot into the right-back position at Bellerin’s expense but that leaves Wenger short of cover at centre back should the England youngster pick up a knock.
Former Everton defender Yobo, 34, is out of contract after recent spells at Fenerbahce and Norwich on loan while Lugano, 33, was released by West Brom after making just seven league starts for the Baggies last season.
Both have Premier League and International experience for Nigeria and Uruguay respectively and could help to plug a gap until the transfer window re-opens in January.
An internal solution may come in the shape of 19-year-old reserve team centre-back Issac Hayden but he would be considered far too inexperienced to cover Per Mertesacker or Laurent Koscielny.
No
He should just go full stop.
If the Barcelona, Real, Bayern or Chelsea managers had a record of just two wins in eight matches they would be out of the door.
But Arsenal don’t have any ambition and neither does its fans.
So he stays at Arsenal.
It could be 2 wins in 38 and he would still be at the club drumming out the same lame excuses every game.
Arsenal, despite the summer signings are no further forward than last season. In fact, we have gone backwards.
Wenger OUT and sooner the better !
No, this is where the Silvestres, and Squillacis happen, sign a bloody warrior.
