Diego Maradona pictured wearing Arsenal training top

World Cup winner Diego Maradona has been pictured wearing an Arsenal training top.

The self-confessed Gunners admirer has previously revealed he came close to signing for the club when he was 19 years old.

Argentina legend Maradona has attended several matches at Emirates Stadium over the years and remains a big supporter of the club and manager Arsene Wenger.

“They play beautiful football”, Maradona previously told The Sun.

“They break quickly – they defend and attack as one. I am a fan of Arsenal when I am in England.

“When I was 19 they tried to buy me and another player from Argentinos Juniors – around the time Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles signed for Tottenham.

“But it didn’t happen. I sometimes wonder what might have happened.”

Maradona has since been pictured wearing a new Arsenal training top said to have been given to him by the club’s kit manufacturers PUMA.
