4 players Arsene Wenger said are ‘world class’ who probably aren’t

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a firm believer in his players – and who could blame him?

The Frenchman is the Gunners’ most successful ever manager, has an eye for a player and consistently gets the best out of his team.

But sometimes that confidence in his players can be unfounded, far from the mark and downright questionable.

Here’s four players labelled ‘world class’ by the Arsenal manager who probably aren’t:

Theo Walcott

“We also had Theo Walcott who I believe is a world-class striker, we had Alexis Sanchez who is a world-class striker, and we had Danny Welbeck who is a world-class striker”.

Wenger has always put huge faith in the player he bought from Southampton at the age 17, although the England international’s tally of 53 goals in 219 games doesn’t exactly set the world alight.

“I am personally convinced he is a world-class goalkeeper, potentially”

A topsy-turvy Arsenal career littered with errors and inconsistent performances, Fabianski will be remembered for the part he played in the club’s 2014 FA Cup win.
