Danny Welbeck is in the Arsenal squad set to face league leaders Leicester on Sunday afternoon, according to reports.
The England striker has been sidelined since April with a knee injury and recently stepped up his return to fitness with a cameo for Arsenal under-21s.
“I think he is very close”, said manager Arsene Wenger in his pre-match press conference.
“Fitness-wise he is there, it is just competition he misses. It is a bit early for him maybe but he is now back to full power in training.”
Welbeck’s injury has left Wenger with forward options limited to just Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Joel Campbell, but he’s now expected to be included on the bench for the key match.
