The ‘surprise’ Arsenal players who covered the most ground against Barcelona
|Arsenal may have bowed out of the Champions League to Barcelona on Wednesday night but there were several players who could walk away proud of their performance against the world’s best team.
Mohamed Elneny’s tireless running and ball-winning abilities were the main reason Arsene Wenger decided to sign him in January – and he proved the Gunners boss right on the grandest stage of all.
Elneny, who has seen his excellent 50th minute strike already touted for Goal of the Week, covered more ground than any other player on the Camp Nou pitch.

The Egyptian was joined by team-mates Hector Bellerin and Mesut Ozil, with the latter surprising many Arsenal fans with his inclusion on the list.

There seems to be a misconception around that Ozil doesn’t run enough during matches, perhaps partly down to his somewhat nonchalant playing style.
