Arsenal are still interested in acquiring key Leicester City member of staff Steve Walsh, according to the club’s ex-defender Matt Elliott.

Walsh is reportedly responsible for bringing in both Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante alongside Ben Wrigglesworth, who the Gunners nabbed from the Foxes earlier this year.

Speaking to Goal, Elliott claimed that Walsh was in as much demand as the club’s top stars in Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and Kante.

“Ranieri has brought with him a feel good factor.

“He hasn’t come in and swept the place clean with a new broom, but he could see by the run at the end of last season that there were a lot of positives and added to it.

His recruitment of staff has been first class. Steve Walsh, for instance, has been a massive influence.

“Arsenal are desperate to have him on their staff and he’s just as much in demand as any of our players.

“But ultimately it is down the players, such as Jamie Vardy, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez.”

Leicester have been the surprise package of the Premier League this season, finding themselves clear at the top of the table with just eight games to go, having just survived relegation last season.

Claudio Ranieri will be keen to ensure another member of his staff is not taken by Arsenal, with the Foxes facing the serious possibility of UEFA Champions League football next season and will want to ensure he has the strongest possible squad and staff to support him.

Arsenal face Watford this weekend at the Emirates Stadium as they look to regain points on league leaders Leicester and north London rivals Tottenham.
