Arsenal open talks with German side over international star

Arsenal have opened talks with Borussia Monchengladbach over midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to the Mirror.
Arsene Wenger’s side had been scouting Xhaka this season and have watched him over 30 times in the last year, leading to them declaring an interest in the Swiss midfielder.
Xhaka, valued at £32m by his club, is already captain of the German side despite being just 23-years-old and has excelled in a central midfield position – becoming arguably the world’s best distributor of the ball.
According to reports, Xhaka is subject to a £24m bid from the north London side but Monchengladbach are holding out for another eight on top of that for their highly valued star.
Should Xhaka join Arsenal, he would become the club’s third most expensive signing in its history behind Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
The Swiss international has been capped 40 times by his country and would compete with the likes of Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey for a place in the midfield.
