Bayern target Arsenal star forward – but would he really leave the club?

Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez is subject to interest from Bayern Munich, who will make the Chilean their no.1 target this summer.

According to AS Chile, Carlo Ancelotti has begun to devise a list of targets that he would like to bring to the Bavaria club when he joins in the summer and has placed the 27-year-old amongst the key candidates. Alexis has become a serial fan favourite in north London and signed in 2014 for a reported transfer fee of roughly £35m.

Alexis has two years currently remaining on his contract and Arsene Wenger recently confirmed that discussions regarding a new contract had been put on hold until the summer, when the Frenchman will attempt to secure the long-term futures of both the ex-Barcelona star as well as record signing Mesut Ozil, who also has just over two years remaining on his deal.

It would likely take a bid upwards of £40m to persuade Wenger to part with the Chilean international but it’s unlikely that he would allow any deal to get rid of Alexis to go through, with Arsenal in no position or need to sell.
