Szczesny’s permanent move to Roma hits stumbling block

Szczęsny-Roma

Wojciech Szczesny’s permanent move to Roma has reportedly hit a stumbling block after Arsenal ‘refused’ to contribute to the Pole’s wages for next season.

The Poland international has been impressive for the Italian giants this season and is enjoying his time under the management of Luciano Spaletti, with the boss impressed by Szczesny’s performances in his first season for the club.

Szczesny was loaned out by Arsene Wenger at the start of the season after the 26-year-old’s performances on the pitch took a hit, while his attitude away from it saw his place in the side lost to the impressive David Ospina – and with Petr Cech signed last summer and having a good first season at the club, it’s unlikely that a return to the starting lineup is on the cards for Szczesny.

According to Italian news publication Corriere dello Sport, Roma are undecided as to whether they want to sign Szczesny but would like to take him back on loan next season, although Arsenal are refusing to contribute toward the goalkeeper’s €3m-per-year wages, meaning Spaletti’s side would have to pay the full contribution.

Heavily linked with a move for Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson, Roma have a decision to make as to whether they bring in the Internacional goalkeeper or stick with Szczesny.
