Arsenal “willing to pay €15m more” than Kante’s release clause

Arsenal are preparing to pay €40m to secure the signature of Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante this summer, despite the reports that the player’s contract has a release clause of just €25m.

The French midfielder had a stunning campaign with Leicester last season, forming a solid partnership with Danny Drinkwater which saw them lift the Premier League title.

It has been reported in recent days that Jamie Vardy is close to sealing a move to Arsenal, while teammate Riyad Mahrez is also interested in leaving the Foxes, with a number of top European sides interested in acquiring his signature.

Much like Mahrez, sealing the signing of Kante will prove difficult with plenty of different sides interested in signing him including Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, although, L’Equipe, as reported by GFFN, say that Kante would prefer a move to north London to play under Arsene Wenger.

Despite capturing the signing of Granit Xhaka for over £30m last month, it appears that the Frenchman has no signs of slowing his interest in a number of different players.
